He doesn’t need to fight the number one boxing contender every single time. He’s the undefeated lineal champion and he survived Wilder three times. If he wants to take a break to cash a big check against Francis, he’s earned the right to do so.

And yes, this is why this isn’t a very appealing question. Jones definitely submits the two non-MMA guys and has a good chance to submit Francis as well. But nothing about his actions or fighting style at HW scream “baddest man on the planet,” the way Fedor screamed it at one time. It almost feels like a paper title at the moment until we get some new action.

With the smallest existing cage I’d go with Francis.Standing 8 counts and no grappling might be a different story.
