Who here thinks HW Cormier may beat a Prime Fedor?

Of course he could. DC was a beast at HW as he is at LHW. High level grappling, power in his hands, knows how to take a shot and has tons of heart.

Fedor is still the greatest of all time, but as much as people exaggerate the "evolution" of MMA the game has gotten a little better. Elite guys like DC, Stipe or Cain (at his best) have a good chance of beating Fedor.

It would be a toss up. I have to say in the ring i would favour prime fedor over any of them.

This is always hard to understand for the younger fans. Soon people will say that Jones was never that good, when he loses after years fighting. But by watching his fights, you will see the things he did.

Since you seem very concerned with prime... Fedor had a very long prime compared to most HWs. He went through 2 "generations" and 7 years as the no 1 ranked HW in the world.. 10 years and 30 fights undefeated, while playing full contact sambo every month at the same time.

I really don't see a prime Vitor struggle with an old Marquardt, or A prime Anderson struggle with a ww in Nick, but they did after fighting for a long time. I know it is hard to see, but it happens to everyone. You will see it happens to Cormier too.

I think you can agree that only by watching the way Fedor fought, moved and his transitions, that he would be a top guy even today. Cormier is a world class wrestler, just like Hendo, and just like Fedor is a multiple world champion, and one of the best Sambo HWs ever.
Mayweather would never be KO'd by a mitrione level opponent.

Your standards for goat are poor. There will be someone in the future worthy of the title but someone like Prime Fedor didnt even fight in modern MMA rules. It's like comparing Royce Gracie to modern competitors.

DC is very hitable, Fedor would likely KO him. Noobs don't seem to comprehend what a great athlete prime Fedor was; he'd be bigger, faster, and likely stronger than DC

That little thing that DC does where he ducks his head down to the right during striking exchanges, that's so predictable and yet apparently impossible for him to refrain from doing?

Good luck with that

Prime fedor zulus cormier. Prime fedor was much lighter on his feet and would zip in and drop dc ala zulu, goodridge, sylvia, nogueira etc etc

Dc has never fought anyone as fast as prime fedor. The closest thing is gustafson

I think by the rogers fight, fedor was already passed it. He still dropped rogers, but it wasnt via a hyper quick maul like in the past. It was via a flat footed bomb. Still a bomb nonetheless
U think Fedor is faster than Anderson Silva? You think Fedor is faster than Anthony rumble Johnson? You think with that abused tormented brain is yours that chubby ass Fedor, who was at a speed disadvantage over arlovski, is faster than the greatest man to put in the gloves Jon Bones Jones? If that's true, well sir you are mistaken.

If you were an intelligent Fedor hater you'd bring up a good point. Like getting taken down by Coleman the first time or something. But it turns out that intelligent Fedor haters are as common as hand-sized elephants. Hence these incessant posts about Hendo/Bigfoot... what part of prime do you not get.

I would favor DC, style wise.

Then again, I probably have recency bias.

DC keeps impressing me, but I really don't see it.
DC could obviously do some damage on the feet, but Fedor was competitive on the feet vs Mirko, so I have a hard time seing DC beat him there. On the ground it would obviously be all Fedor.
?????

I would say the opposite: the fight would be slanted in Fedor's favor on the feet, but DC mauls him on the ground. He's an Olympic wrestler with brilliant takedowns, control, and sub defense. It's hard for me to imagine any fighter beating DC on the ground right now, excepting possibly werdum.

There are quite a few here that only seem to know Fedor from Strikeforce. When "prime" was mentioned, just go back and watch Fedor/Crocop. That, to me, is the best fight still to this day. I have Fedor taking this. And I'm a huge Cormier fan.

Reminder about Prime Fedor.

Like many other hypothetic match ups he "may" , but he will likely not

No MMA fighter i ever seen i will favor over prime Fedor

When i will see a new HW that offer a more impressive mix, i will be open to admit it

38 year old DC would beat prime Fedors ass.

Jds,stipe,Overeem and Cain would also destroy prime fedor
People will say this is out of prime Fedor but Cormier was only a few years in his mma career during this point. This was also TRT Bigfoot.

It is possible; the sport has continued to evolve since Fedor passed out of his prime.

I think Fedor is a bad matchup for DC. He was a much more explosive striker than DC and was extremely dangerous off his back. My guess is that DC keeps it standing for a bit too long and gets KO'd.

The passage of time makes it easy to forget just how good Fedor was. This is the same guy who outstruck prime CroCop on the feet and battered prime Nogueira on the ground. If I'm not mistaken, Fedor has the most wins against UFC/Pride champions in the sport. And he fought them at their best and generally finished or dominated them.

Side note: it's funny how most of the people who weigh in on these kinds of threads (fighter X versus fighter Y in his prime) weren't actually around when fighter Y was in his prime, and therefore are wholly unqualified to speak on the subject.

I wouldn’t bet against Fedor vs anybody of it were 2005

Mayweather would never be KO'd by a mitrione level opponent.

Your standards for goat are poor. There will be someone in the future worthy of the title but someone like Prime Fedor didnt even fight in modern MMA rules. It's like comparing Royce Gracie to modern competitors.
Boxing is not mma, you know, And Boyasky would never lose to someone like Anderson B. Silva or Manhoef or even Spong some years back.

Royce was a very good BJJ competitor, but nothing more. Fedor was a world champion grappler, one of the best HW grapplers we have ever seen, but still a great standupfighter, And great in the clinch. I don’t see anyone that has surpassed that in todays game. Many of the top HWs the last few years have actually been quite onedimensional.

I don’t think you believe the silly stuff you write. I think you Are trolling And play dumb now, just to get a reply.
