Anyone else seen this movie and consider it a classic ? I came home from a night of drinking and it was on my local antenna channel and I decided to watch it. I enjoyed it so much that I decided to watch it the next day to make sure it wasn't the alcohol, and it was even better. Beyond well written, well acted. It's an older movie and it has more heart than most anything made today. Just curious if you have any suggestions on older movies that are well worth the watch.

Video games ruined me. Whenever I see HUD I think Heads Up Display. FML.

I thought this thread was going yo be about the guy from Seinfeld.

On topic, though, can't think of many off the top of my head. Pretty much anything with Jimmy Stewart, Lee Marvin, Eastwood, Brando, etc is worth watching.

If you want really, really old... silent film Nosferatu from the 1920s.

If you want still damn old... Citizen Kane from the 1940s.

If you want something good from the 60s... Anything with Brando will be a good performance, even if the movie is only okay. Other good Paul Newman movies from the 60s are The Hustler and Cool Hand Luke. Other good 1960s movies...The Pawnbroker, In the Heat of the Night.

If you count the 70s as old enough, pretty much everything with Pacino, DeNiro, Jane Fonda, Dustin Hoffman, Robert Duvall or Roy Scheider. Just go through their resume until the 70s are over. But a few offhand that get overlooked from this era... Klute, And Justice for All, Sorcerer, THX 1138, Marathon Man, Fingers, King of the Gypsies.

OP, if you have Hulu anything in their Criterion Collection is money.

Ever seen "papillon". That's one of my favorites. Steve McQueen, Dustin Hoffman....true story...good movie.

I'm trying to remember some of the DVDs I had in my collection, mostly old cult classics.

-Logan's run
-thx1138
-once upon a time in the west
-lots of Clint Eastwood stuff, Dirty Harry etc.
-cool hand like
-bullit
-dogs of war
-a boy and his dog
-legend

Shit there's so many I'm forgetting too.

Good call with Logan's Run.

If I am to list some more old 60s and 70s stuff that's worth watching...

Coming Home, Demon Seed, The Champ, Play Misty for Me, The China Syndrome, The Killer Elite, Dog Day Afternoon, Cruising, Serpico, Mean Streets, Blow Up, Carrie, Taxi Driver, Outland, The Man Who Would Be King, Get Carter, Apocalypse Now, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, The Missouri Breaks.

Damn, G. Hulu is pretty awesome. If you know about movies like I do.

I download 50 gigs of movies a week.

I have twenty Tb of drivespace filled with movies, music and TV shows.

I have much hate for streaming.

I have a pretty good deal with my internet, no limits.

Drives are still expensive though, and they aren't forever.
