Who has the GOAT MMA wrestling: Khabib or GSP?

There’s a level to this. Sure gsp is a great mma wrestler but got outwrestled by hendricks who’s a amazing college wrestler but both cejudo(gold medalists) and Romero(silver medalist) are above everyone in ufc

Not quite. Just because they are Olympic level doesnt mean their wrestling is a higher level than NCAA for mma. Olympic wrestling doesnt transition as well to mma as NCAA does. The rules for NCAA condition wrestlers better for mma because it focuses more on control and ground work, various different take down techniques and the refs allow continuous grappling without standing the wrestlers up, there is far more ground work in Collegiate which obviously works better for mma. The Olympics have a different scoring system where a take down happens, back control and point is scored and they re start, also if there is not much action the match gets stood up right away. In some Olympic, greco roman there are no leg attacks, trips or shooting in.

Romero is a very high level Olympic wrestler but he didnt transition as well to mma as others. He was out wrestled by Jacare and Brunson. The best mma wrestlers mostly come from NCAA. Now that doesnt mean NCAA guys would go Olympic and do well, because under those rule sets they would get beat.....but for mma it transitions better.

Good point. Gus with that TD on Jones was impressive.

Still, GSP was outwrestled multiple times and Khabib was outwrestled by Tibau. Jones was arguably outwrestled by one of the best LHWs of all time skillwise.

I was just curious what you thought about Gus/Jones. There was barely any wrestling in that fight, I think Gus got away with one on Jones with that takedown. Overall if they grappled in a mma fight for periods of time Jones would get the better of it.

Romero never got outwrestled by jacare or Brunson
Sure jacare and Brunson got a takedown but they never able to control Romero, in game they outwrestled romero is like saying rumble outwrestled cormier
And I think Romero transition to mma better than cormier both in wrestling and fighting. Most cormier takedown is brute like while Romero takedowns are way more explosive and got a lot more tools to take you down

GSP was the best at securing td's. Khabib is the best at top control.

GSP did a lot less damage on top but his td's were unstoppable.

Jones is also in the conversation and Brock's top control rivals Khabibs though he lacks his technical skill.

Ugh, I would watch the fight again, Jacare took him down in round 3 around the 3 minute mark and kept him down for the rest of the round, he had like 3 mins of top control. Brunson actually took Romero down 3 times in their fight in the first two rounds before the TKO....Romero went 0 of 4 on takedowns. So yes, both did out wrestle Romero.

When was GSP outwrestled multiple times. Theres a big difference between being taken down and being outwrestled.

We haven't seen Khabib against the Kevin Lees, Michael Chandlers, or Gregor Gillespies at 155.

Heck even GSP looked a hell of a lot more human when wrestling with prime versions of Koscheck and Hendricks.

Hughes 1 and Hendricks both outwrestled him...The wrestling was even vs one eyed Koscheck in the rematch

Wrestling? Easily Georges. His takedowns are next level.

Grappling? It's close, but I'd say khabib has the slighly better top control and sub game.

I have to see him dominate some better competition in that top position and really bust people up or submit them. GSP absolutely tore the guard apart of a prime BJ Penn and beat his ass into quitting.

GSP.
Khabib’s ground and pound is more effective, but I think GSP had the better takedowns overall.
They have very different styles of wrestling though. GSP had amazing timing when he would shoot for his takedowns, while Khabib is more about pressure up against the cage with trips.

Very different styles as mentioned but overall it's GSP imho.

Khabib has never went against high level wrestlers. Gsp fought Fitch,Kos 2x, shields, Hendricks, . Gsp is the ultimate dude being he had no wrestling background. Dude is the goat. no questions asked

Jon Jones. The man outwresled Olympian DC twice...He has never been outwrestled. Khabib and GSP can’t say the same.

He got outwrestled by Gustafsson 2 takedowns to 1 during their fight along with a lot of unsuccessful attempts by Jones.
