Who has had the most up and down career?

Melvin Manhoef

MMA: 32-17-1
Kickboxing: 38-14

Such a very unique but inconsistent career. Could have been an all time great had he just won a few against the top notch opponents.

In mma he never beat the elites only Hunt. Caught him. Saku is not such a huge win rankings wise. He came up short vs all the elites.

All time is probably Arlovski.

- 6 fight win streak, UFC champion. Loses twice in to Tim Sylvia.
- Goes on another 5 fight win streak - Loses 5 fights in a row.
- People write him off and say his chin is completely shot and should retire
- Goes on a 10-1 run with the 1 loss being against Anthony Johnson who breaks his jaw and despite that, doesn't get KO'ed in the fight
- Loses another 5 fights in a row - People say he's completely done now
- Wins 2 in a row and then drops another 3 in a row - More talk that he's finally done
- Trades wins and losses for a bit and then wins 4 in a row
- Now he's back to 2 losses in a row

He's been a decision machine and not the most exciting guy to watch but his longevity is pretty amazing. Especially when you saw all of his brutal KO losses only for him to keep coming back and going on win streaks.

Tony Ferguson:
From a super nova hot 12 fight win streak to a liquid nitrogen cold 6 fight losing streak. And if he loses to Paddy, his losing streak will reach Sub Zero temperatures.
That is not an up and down career that is just going on a very abrupt and steep decline.

@Baal nailed it with AA i do believe.

Jon Fitch had a bit of a up and down career would get on a good streak and then eventually lose again only to get on another streak then lose again but then again that is bound to happen when you fight a lot. He had a 16 fight win streak and two separate 5 fight win streaks. Would have been 22 in a row had he not lost that decision to GSP.

For sure. If I remember correctly the UFC didn’t even want him and he just kinda was grandfathered in after they bought PrideFC they wanted to buy him out of his contract and he said no let me bang mate! Love that man. Went from getting wrestlefucked by freaking Sean mccorkle (sean is awesome but cmon) to slaying giants for years.

Mccorkle broke his damn arm, I was devastated.

And btw Cerrone, never reached gold but has to be one of the closest to never get it with huge win string runs and then terrible amateur like losses.
