My vote goes to Nate. He has been a black belt since forever and holds the record for the most submissions in the division

Pure BJJ Nate but Tony puts his to use a lot more.

In a pure bjj match probably Nate. Mma grappling probably Tony because he has good bjj and good wrestling.

BJJ: Nayt >>>Tony

Wrestling: Tony >>> Nayt

Wildcard: Tony’s BJJ >>> Nayts wrestling

10th planet jiu jitsu is different to gracie jiu jitsu, apples and oranges imo gi/no gi

Tony has better wrestling and is more well rounded IMO so it can set up his BJJ better, but pure BJJ I would think Nate but it is close

Tony is much more athletic and flexible which makes a huge difference. I got Tony.

Pure BJJ Nate is better but Tony’s grappling is better suited to mma. He keeps a higher pace and more urgent off of his back whereas Nate has a slower BJJ game and runs out of time in a lot of fights

Different styles. Not really fair to compare them that way. You could ask who has better MMA JJ which would probably be Tony, or pure BJJ which would most likely be Nate.

I personally dislike the whole 10th planet jitsu thing. I find it absolutely terrible for MMA.

Tony is the better grappler overall. Anything else is semantics.

I am more interested who of them would win a spelling bee or a game of chess.

Anyone who says Nate BJJ >> isnt taking into consideration the sport. For MMA purposes, Nate's BJJ is inferior to Tony's MMA grappling which includes 10th planet JJ.

Is that why Nate has more submissions?

9 of Fergs 23 wins are submissions.
13 of Nate's 20 wins are submissions.

This ontop of Nate having 5-6 more fights makes it a little more even imo. I still think Tony's OVERALL grappling > Nate's BJJ.

Nate has more submissions than Werdum and Maia too... While I think Nate has better BJJ than Tony, submission victories in MMA really doesn't mean jack shit.

Jiu Jitsu doesn't work. Just ask that one dude who got submited by big nog.
