Who has a real fire here?

Had three at my last house, 2 inside, one outside…
Not practical to burn wood in the Motorhome…
Still managed to enjoy an open flame…

I loved burning wood, I heated 4000 SQFT house with wood during the winter months..
It’s not that impractical. I knew a guy that had a wood burning stove on his boat. He also had a goat that would go out on his boat with him.

I have a wood and gas burning fireplace in my bedroom but I never use it.

Yea it can be done, I looked into it, our Motorhome layout / design made it impractical, since we are always on the move, storing and scrounging firewood was not something I wanted to start..
We have a large LP tank onboard, so I installed that unit, gives off a ton of heat, and uses no power..
I do however love the Goat idea, I’ll have to discuss with the cats..

Wood-burning stove over here. They're the best!

Tore my fireplace out so I have more sofa room.

Do you have a solid fuel fire? I don't, I have gas central heating but I wish I had a log burner. There's nothing like a real fire on a cold, snowy night to keep you warm and cosy.

In the UK (presumably in all western countries) the laws are gradually tightening on what solid fuel you can burn at home, in what area and in what kind of stove.

What are the reasons for the rules? Emissions?

Yeah, I got multiple wood stoves. Was considering getting rid of them, but with the massive heating bills people have nowadays for obvious reasons, I'm glad I wasted time and didn't.

I have a gas fireplace that can also burn wood.

I usually use the gas to get the fire started but once the wood is burning well then I turn the gas off.

My wife leaves the gas on while the wood burns because she's afraid that is the fire dies down too much then the smoke will come in the house instead of going up the chimney.

I think it's a waste of gas.

We argue about this a lot.

I love all the folks that keep me in business with their fireplace related dilemmas.

I have a fire place. Never use it. I keep all my fire activity relegated to the fire pit outside in the backyard away from the house.

I have a gas fireplace that’s enclosed. It bums me out, I miss having an actual wood burning fireplace.

I do have a bonfire/fire pit in the backyard at least

Absolutely loved mine…never any issues. Had a chimney sweep come by once a year. Took pics before and after cleaning. Gotta stay on top of it.

I have a fireplace, but very rarely use it. Maybe once every 3 or 4 years. It just isn't cold here. Firepit in the back is more frequent.

I have a wood burning fireplace, it's in the front room, usually only use it for atmosphere because there's underfloor heating all downstairs.

Looks nice with the Christmas tree.

Gas fireplace for me. Not near as satisfying as a proper wood burner but definitely better than nothing.
