I grew up in Dallas during the 80s and 90s and remember going to matches to see the Von Erichs and Freebirds, Kamla and Abudula the butcher, Bruiser Body and many others. I remember the sportaturm would go crazy when the Freebirds would walk in. Dallas was a Von Erichs country.

I remember my step dad taking me to this. it was huge and people were buying it on CCTV and shit cause there was no PPV. Me and my two brothers

I grew up watching it on tv, would have loved to have been able to go to one of those Cotton Bowl or Texas Stadium shows
Do you remember what years specifically that you watched?

Early 80s. Probly around 84 is the earliest I could remember. I would have been around 7-8 and going to most show that were at the sportaturm or bronco bowl and only went the big show at the cotton bowl twice. I guess I mainly watched in the late 80s and early 90s before they got bought out. I remember a cow bell matches were they drag the guy and by a rope and had to touch all four turnbuckles to get the win. Strap matches I guess. They were big at the time and lumberjack matches too.

I get the territories confused, but I think I watched some of these matches on ESPN and UHF. I remember Abdullah, Brody, and One Man Gang matches being shown. Some Von Erich stuff too.

Got to watch it on satellite (the old school big ass fuckers). Also got to see stuff from Hawaii, a little from Mexico, and occasionally stuff from Japan.

I remember watching World Class and AWA on ESPN. A lot of it was reruns from a couple years earlier. I remember seeing guys who were currently in WWF or WCW when they were younger. Was a big Kevin Von Erich mark from those episodes.

Ok. Now here is something I was always confused about. Was One Man Gang the same as Bam Bam Bigalo

No, One Man Gang went on to become Akeem in the WWF

Bam Bam Bigelow wrestled in WCCW as Crusher Yurkov, he was terribly misused in that promotion

Ok. I always got them confused and I always thought they were same guy.

I wish I did, because they seemed like really cool shows. Awesome intro music too

Before my time but I’ve always been intrigued with the story of WCCW. If you like podcasts then i highly recommend The Lapsed Fan’s history of the rise and fall of it. They deep dive into every single year, damn near starting with Fritz’s childhood. It took me weeks to get through all of it but so worth it. This story is endless fascinating

As a kid I was never able to see WCCW until ESPN picked it up. I watched it pretty much every day after school because it was wrestling and it was on, though.
I remember it as probably being the really late 80s or early 90s, because the Dingo Warrior was on TV quite a bit around that time.

One Man Gang was Mohawks, sunglasses, and jean jackets.

Bam Bam was bald, fiery tattoos, and onesies.

I remember the re-runs on ESPN and of course I've watched it on DVD's when I could find it
