The only thing more cringe than his ego and trash talk is the dudes striking skills. Some of the worst boxing defenses I have ever seen, since Ronda and Kikuno (y'all remember the ferguson fight.) hell I'd even throw shoji versus nick Diaz. It's like he thinks standing tall as a telephone pole will prevent opponents from punching his face

Has he not learned from the great strikers? Henry and Javier? Is he not from AKA?

He has beautiful kicks and they are quite devastating but that's all he has in the striking arsenal. He is always the hammer never the nail, and when he becomes the nail he loses in the worst way possible

Nate Diaz was right, pretty boys with virgin noses will never be great strikers

He is not the greatest striker in the game, but comparing him to Ronda? Come on son lol.

{<RR}

Rockhold is a striker. He sure as hell isn't a wrestler with his 5 total career takedowns, so I'm not sure where TS thinks he's going.

Its like he cant adjust his footwork for boxing, like hes permanently stuck in a kickers stance smh

Even though Luke ended up getting Ko'd he clearly landed more strikes than Romero. As I said in other posts Romero is a guy who try's to " catch " his opponents. Luke's mistake was stepping straight back when what he needed was lateral movement and counter Yoel at an angle.

<seedat> .

It is weird that after leaving AKA and going to a seemingly striking-based gym he hasn't found what works for him and what he should avoid. Maybe needs more time to hone his striking skills to compliment his grappling.

Well he has outstruck Jacare, Tim Kennedy, Costas, Bisping, knocked down Machida(in his eyes), Jardine, and was competitive on the feet with the guy who KOd Anderson before destroying him on the ground, I guess all of them are such shit that a left kick is all you need to beat them. Who woulda thunk?

Considering he was outstriking Yoel with techniques he doesn't usually throw I would say he is definitely a solid striker.

Idiot. Weidman had been striking for less than 10 years and KOd Anderson with ease, who told Anderson he was a striker? Lol

I was just thinking that he's one of those guys who would be so much more dangerous if he could threaten take downs. It's really a damn shame that a guy with such a strong top game isn't adept at getting people to the mat because not only would it let him get the fight to where he's strongest, but it would also open up his striking.

It's always bizarre to me when guys with strong BJJ don't take the time to develop a good take down game. Some other guys off the top of my casual head who would be way more dangerous if they could take people down: the Diaz bros., Pettis, and Condit. I feel like I'm missing a really obvious one that I was able to think of earlier.

He looks good on the outside, but is very uncomfortable when the opponent closes.

A lot of MMA guys are like this: either clueless in the pocket and running from it, or clueless in the pocket and brawling like an idiot.

Are u fucked? Lol ..romero won that fight the only way he can win any fight.. a random explosive attack..

Outside of this , rockhold was beating him..and hobbled him with leg kicks and was jabbing the shit out of him..he trains with two of best pure kickboxing trainers in the world..and your calling his striking shit?

Romero looks good only because he was able to catch rockhold with a rushing attack but had he not ..and fought the way he had for the hole fight..rockhold would of won a decison or stopped him late.. romeros a deadly one trick pony..the guy waits and waits then boom explosion and its over..

Heres the proof the wins over machida..weidman and rockhold all the follow the pattern of wait wait boom..

The loss to whittaker show what happens when he cant catch his opponent..he gets worked for 5 rounds

He is not a bad over all striker. He just has some holes in his boxing defense, and definitely a weak chin to survive exchanges with heavy hitters. Bisping exposed him, and Romero buried him.
