Who else spent hrs at the arcade as a kid?

Me and my best friend used to play street fighter 2 and mortal Kombat and mortal Kombat 2. We had 3 close spots. One shopping center had a pizza place with mortal Kombat. And it had a donut shop with mortal Kombat and street fighter 2. If there was a kid neither could beat we'd go to the other place. And another shopping center had a burger place with mortal Kombat 2.

My dad was a pool hustler in the 90s. He used to take me into a lot of pool halls and arcades as a kid. Spent a lot of quarters and time on arcades back in the day

Some of my favs:

NBA Jam
WWF Wrestlefest
The Simpsons
Tekken
TMNT
Double Dragon

There was one corner store close to my house had sf2 and rotating second cabinet some gems there. Occasionally one of the downtown arcades.
One of my friends lived near a store that had like 5 or 6 cabinets and a couple of pinball machines spent all our money there when went over lol.

Not just as a kid but all the way until I was in my early 20s.

I've always liked arcade since I was a kid. I don't remember what was my earliest games, but I do remember liking to play games like double dragon or later on capcom games like Final Fight. But my favourite games has always been Street Fighter and it was the player vs player aspect of the game that gave these games lasting powers and so popular.

I wonder how much money I spent total in those arcades in my youth

Sucks there’s not many arcades nowadays, well in my hood anyway

I remember when I would go to Vegas as a kid with my dad
He would just give stack of 20’s to go to the arcade floor while he gambled

I tried playing arcade as an adult. I forgot what I was playing but I was in way over my head when I saw that people were plugging in controllers from home. They had preset buttons. I was using combos I remembered as a kid.

Being in the 80s we were still having outdoors adventures and stuff but yeah these were just kicking off.

I remember spending $7 of my pocket money savings on a game called Time Pilot...and then getting beaten by my father when he found out.

This is Time Pilot lol

Technology advanced fast and we got Double Dragon, Mortal Kombat WWF superstars etc.

I was also addicted to these-

And of course, this game (which was actually real). People would gather to watch you play this particular stage which made it even more humiliating if you got caught by the bikers lol (the fear was real)

Even as teen I remember there was a corner store near me that had 2 machines, one was Mortal Kombat
Weekends we would get slurpees and put booze in them and go hard on MK

I remember being young and my dad took me to this burger place and they had a Street Fighter 2 machine. That day got me hooked on wanting to play arcade games. I liked any fighting games or side scrolling games like the simpsons game or x-men.

Theres a place near me called Arcade Club, you pay £15 in then all the games are free play and they got everything you can think of from an original Pong Cabinet to Space Harrier, SF2, NBA Jam, Simpsons, TMNT, Mario Kart to the latest crazy units from Japan.

Plus they do beers, pizza and burgers, it's cool to go once I a while with a group, Friday nights are adults only.
