Who do you think would have won between prime Jon Jones and Magomed Ankalaev?

I've asked you repeatedly to name the "3 generations" of fighters hes defeated.

To answer your question most other fighters are not PED cheating, wife beating, cowards who live off of wins from over a decade ago while pretending to be active. They're just fighters or ATG

Generation 1

LHW's from 2004 to 2009, former Pride and UFC guys that were champs....Shogun, Rampage, Machida, Rashad, Vitor.

Generation 2

LHWs from 2012 to 2016 era, newer UFC guys.....Gustaffson, Cormier, Glover

Generation 3

LHWs that came up post 2016.....Reyes, Santos, Smith.

Ok this is actually a pretty good answer. However, context is key.

3 generations of fighters makes it sound like he cleared 3 generations of top 10s. Also I'd put glover in gen 1 and Santos/Smith in gen 2.

Plus Jones inactivity plays a huge role in this. He does not have very many fights for how long hes been "active" (11 fights in like 12 years).

And if we grant Jon a pass on all the things I mentioned then by that same standard man, many fighters have done the same so its not really some crazy stat

The one guy that I think could've beaten Jones is Randy.

There is nobody that has ever had an advantage up against the cage vs Jones, due to his Greco-Roman background. But Randy was the king of the standing clinch against the cage. He'd be neutralizing Jones best weapon.

And Jones certainly wasn't knocking Randy out with his pillow fists. His only chance would be a head kick.

According to sherdog, Jones would never fight anyone.

Not true Stag, Jones just won't fight any Heavyweights.

Here is Jon, his words & Q's, in 4 minutes after BKFC on Jessie Moses.

Prime Jon Jones but it'd be close... I think prime JJ is like Pereira when 100% and Ankalaev is like prime Gus

But we never know, maybe JJ is even better now. Topuria in themJoe Rogan podcast said he thinks JJ even at 38 yo is better than when younger, as to him he compensates his loss of athleticism with a broader understanding of octagon positioning and an elite way of timing his strikes to hit in the perfect spot, as well as even better grappling. He even said that based on the Miocic fight he think JJ right now should be the pfp #1 ... DDP said he thinks JJ and Alex are the pfp #1 and #2 to him right now

Jones stylistically would beat Ank by points. He would get beat by Reyes rematch, Jan Blachowicz, DC without the roids, and possibly Rumble.

Is a generation really only 4-5 years?

Prime JJ beats everyone.
If motivated, he inflicts enough damage to sideline Ank for at least a year.

It really is a testament to the fact that retiring undefeated (bullshit DQs aside) makes people think you were literally unbeatable.

I lean towards Jones wins but this is a close fight on paper.

Ank just boxed Poatan up and is hardly someone you can just ragdoll with wresling, and with Jones' relatively shitty boxing, you all think Ank has literally no chance?

with Big John as ref and Usada, Ank wins

without that, Jones 100%
Well Ankalaev actually got finished by Paul Craig... and by Murad Abdurakhmanov, aaaand twice by Rashid Yusupov. Its really comical to me that he got that big hype after beating literally worst ever version of Pereira. Like there is not scenario where Ankalaev beats Jones... :D

Jon Jones. Again, Alex Pereira is the only one who could beat JJ. And he will beat Ank in the rematch,, with a broken hand and sick he almost won, 100% healed is domination Chama! Ankalaev is good, but Alex and Jones are elite of the elite.

Jones has - by far - the highest fight IQ of anyone in the game.

And the skills to utilize said IQ.

He would absolutely OBLITERATE Ank. Or at least win a decission, which is oftemtimes a criminally underrated skill: winning a decision when you're down on points.

And he also dominated Tom. But yeah Ankalaev would likely be tougher but not so much. Alex Pereira likely is the only one who'd have JJ entertaining in popping up to a fight in November if he wins the rematch. But yeah I think Pereira wins the rematch, I've that feeling that for things like this never fails. And I think we gonna close with the best match which is JJ vs Poatan. Poatan is likely chasing down the opportunity to avenge the one who broke his master's shoulder, when Glover was on a 17 wins streak and needed surgery due that joint lock and break in their fight. Izzy had hinted that Poatan's quietly but surely getting to his goal, JJ. And he said that Poatan is a blessed human being, he did unbelievable things for a kickboxing hardcore fan and he did amazing so far in MMA, saying he hopes Alex beats JJ. He said Alex is the only one who can make it happen

Well, they're longer than that but we're putting it in terms of Jones career. The Shogun/Rampage/Machida era was from 2004 to 2012 or so, and the other tend to overlap.
