They were both around at the wrong time , way too many stars back then for either one of them to become regular main event guys , Buff obviously looked fantastic and I don’t think they put much effort into developing his character so he really got stuck and a background Nwo guy , Ken I think would have got a bigger push once Rock & Austin bounced but he decided that getting beat up by a much younger Tito 3 times was the genius career move .
If you were to lock me in a prison cell for a week with only one of their complete catalogues for entertainment I’m going with Shamrock
Austin was an incredible worker; especially his earlier stuff before injuries. He was the Ring Master when he left WCW due to his ability to wrestle. I disagree with your take on Shamrock over Austin in terms of in ring work. That isn't knocking Shamrock, but Austin is a legit worker. I'll agree on the Rock and HHH, but HHH is pretty great as a worker.
If wcw didn't get bought by Vince, I feel like a shamrock vs Goldberg feud could have been fun.
Also as much as I love wcw, not having buff turn face in 1998 was a huge mistake. They had a few chances to do it as well. They tried in 1999 but they had him box piper and piper schooled him. Then Russo came in and just booked him into oblivion.
Overall, I like buff alot. Great look, decent on the mic and was just victim of bad booking.
With that said, id give shamrock a slight nod. Could mix it up more with different styles.
I have fond memories of Buff being Scott Steiners hype guy.
Shamrock I don't think ever lived up to his potential
Austin came to WWF older and I remember his earlier stuff...he was top tier. Not like decent, he was incredible.I'd argue that calling Shamrock a better worker than Austin is flat out laughable tbh.
