Who could cross over to boxing?

If by success you mean to win the world title, which is pretty important for anyone
who wants to earn good money like in their previous career in K1/muay thai
(not just crush some random guys and get a nice undefeated record)
then I doubt any one can just win it solely by their experience in K1/muay thai alone
even with a bit of amateur boxing experience.
More hardcore boxing guys will just tell you straight that you need years of experience in boxing and need to
grind your way through many styles of boxers, the runners, boxers, fighters,
clinchers, lefty, righty...
I doubt you can just jump right in and win world title without significant boxing
experience in either pro or amateur unless your name is
Saensak Muangsurin or Veeraphol Sahaprom.

Lamachenko is challenging for world title in his second fight, but he can do that
because dude is one of the best amateur boxing of all time.

Sure, in boxing title fights are only given to contenders that are ranked with in the top ten of the respective sanctioning body. Superstars generally are the only exemption to this rule. So it goes with out saying that any fighter from any other sport would have to climb the ladder to get big fights. Any Badr Hari or John Jones that thinks they are automatically entitled to a Klitschko showdown is delusional. But I think that there are some kickboxers talented enough and fresh enough to work towards a title in boxing. I don't think that any of the posts here were trying to say anything different, at least I hope not because that would be plain stupid.

Building up fighters to be able to contend for world title take quite a long time though, even for the absolute paper titles.

Many fighters have said they want to fight for it like Badr Hari in pro or Mousasi for
the olympic. But then they realize it would take more time than they thought
and stick to their original careers.

My point is rather about I don't think there are fighters (particularly kickboxers
and mma fighters) who are willing to give up their former careers to climb boxing ladder to the title shot.

The reason why many Thai have done it is because they can't find opponents
any more because they are too good, and gamblers don't want to see
unequal skill match up.
Guys like Samart fought only one time in a year prior to crossing over to boxing.

Other than that it is because they are so bad like Khaosai Galaxy.

Depending on how good your promoter is it takes at least a few years to build up to title contention assuming that you have a perfect or near perfect record. I defiantly agree if your making good money in the sport your already in shifting to boxing probably is not the smartest decision.
