Ok, so i'm entering a couple of BJJ comps this fall. Last fall, i did horribly in the comps i entered, mostly because i was a total n00b and now i'm just a regular n00b. Maybe started competing too soon, but i like it so whatevs. Thing is, i've spent all summer with a skin infection which means i haven't been grappling, which means that i've been strength training more. Now i'm a fuckton stronger than last fall. I know that i have a real easy time shedding weight, so here's my question: Now i weigh 83 kgs, of which a good deal is fat. Should i compete at * 82 kgs, keep 100% of my new strength but still risk being smaller than guys who have dropped from like 90 * 76 kgs, which is my old weight class where i will probably do ok and still keep a lot of my strength or * 70 kgs, probably lose some raw strength but likely still be in the top 10% strength-wise, and also be taller than about half the guys? Making weight is not a problem, i am lucky enough that my body does what i tell it. In before "don't worry so much about weight and work on your technique", one does not preclude the other. Thanks guys!
