    For example

    Rory "Ares" MacDonald
    Frank "The Legend" Shamrock
    Miesha "Cupcake" Tate
    Hector "Showeather" Lombard
    Corey "Beastin' 25'8" Anderson
    Josh "The Warmaster" Barnett

Whose self-anointed moniker is the GOAT?

I must admit that I've got no clue as to which nick is self-given.

They all suck, you could make a thread about elite striking and you'd find a way to put Meisha Taint in there.

He was given his nickname due to his BJJ instructor... He had a GI named Shogun, so the man thought it was a cool nickname, also because of his brother Ninja :)

That isn't a self given nickname. It is a self given name.

    Unless we're talking about Barnett.

    Beastin 25/8 has it all.

Nothing will ever touch it but the only thing that comes close is "Showeather".

It has a certain inscrutability while still somehow seeming incredibly derivative.

You can't teach that kind of creativity.
