Which Jones rematch would look the most different...

1. Rashad hurt Jones much worse than Machida did.

2. Rashad didn't get finished.

Yes, but Rashad had to be on point and then some to even survive. It just didn't feel like he could hit an extra gear on Jones, due to size. There were many positions where I was like, "come on Shad! get him!". Then you have to remember Jones is 6'4 with a crazy reach. That always plays on your mind.

Shogun, because of how inconsistent he is.
Bonnar.

That said, I think the result most likely to be different would be Machida. I don't think the fight would look all that different from the first, I just think Machida would control the pace for longer, and has the best chance to get himself a victory.

No way Bonnar would go 3 rounds again.

I came here to say that.

Also, I think Machida would do better on a rematch.

Shogun would do worse if the shows up like in his last fight, TKO R1.

Shogun would look the most different. There is no way he could have a worse performance and I really understand why the majority of sherdog believes Machida has a solid chance. He was finished as soon as Jones got to engage him.

Hamill. Actually wouldn't look that different except for Matt's unconscious body on the mat.

Lol, definitely.

Also, I think Rampage could theoretically pull it off if he came in great shape with the right gameplan but the chances of that happening are very slim.

Machida seems to be the best bet with Rashad being a close second if he decides to be more aggressive. I don't see Shogun or Rampage amking major adjustments in a rematch and everybody else has even less of a chances(ie Bader, Vitor, Vera, Matyushenko etc).

i think most of his fights would look different mostly because his opponents didn't have a chance to see him fight in high profile fights against elite guys before. now that they've seen him more, and may have studied his weaknesses i think a lot of them could do much better. not necessarily that they'd win, but they wouldn't get as blown out as they did before.

lol, no one's picking Rampage.

I do agree with him though that Jones is probably a fighter you'd have to fight twice. My pick would be Evans, due to Jones finishing him inside 3 the next time around.

I'd like to say Machida. But I have a feeling Jones has Machida figured out now. His best chance probably went away with that first fight.

I think Rampage looked to be in the best shape I ever seen him in against Jones. He looked ripped if I remember it right.

I would actually say Vitor, for two reasons:

1) it is highly unlikely Vitor does not finish that sub if given a 2nd chance.
2) it is highly unlikely that Jones would be caught in that armbar again, knowing that he would likely not be so fortunate to escape without even more serious injury.

I think the fight would therefore be very different a 2nd time. Jones' other fights? meh - not so different - maybe Shogun has a new gameplan, but I don't see Machida faring much better (though I doubt he gets caught with the same thing again either).

You're actually right and in an interview with Helwani I believe he admitted he wasn't in such good shape since the rematch with Wanderlei but I was referring more to his gameplan. He seemed like he was head hunting and I think he would be more effective he tried to mix in his grappling and kicks but instead he just stood at range and absorbed kicks the whole night.

If you read the Striking Guys' article on Jones, he points out inside leg kicks could be effective against Jones as it takes away his stance and if anyone can capitalize I think it would be Rampage with his power. Maybe I'm reaching though.
