158 is stacked with Welterweights, 6 of the top 10 in fact. Has Dana announced who gets the #1 contender spot (not that his word means much)? Will Rory fight GSP? Where does Nate Marquart fit in if he wins next month?

Rory wont fight GSP, Condit just lost to him in a logjammed division. So Ellenberger/Hendricks, since Hendricks was already considered the #1 already by most.

Hendricks gets the title shot if he wins. He should already be the one fighting for the title, but he gets it for sure if he wins at 158. He doesn't even have to fight again, but good on him that he accepted a fight with Ellenberger and is staying active instead of sitting out for a long time.

Hendricks should get it if he wins but if he loses then Ellenberger still needs another couple wins first.

Condit shouldn't get a rematch so soon and Rory doesn't need to be fighting GSP yet.

Losses don't matter anymore. Condit could lose @ 158 and still get the next title shot as long as it makes more $$.....they're just giving away title shots nowadays

What if Ellenberger & Condit both win? Then what?

Hendricks probably has the inside track. I'd like to see Rory get a shot if not Hendricks, but the training situation could be a sticking point obviously.

Not going to happen, but I would assume that Ellenberger would fight Condit to see who the #1 contender is

Dana doesn't give a fuck about friendships in MMA, if Rory becomes the #1 contender than so be it, put the contract in front of them, if they don't sign, life becomes difficult as a pro-fighter in the UFC, deal with it bitches... Dana has no problem throwing guys under the bus, it's in his job description.

Rory shouldn't even be in this discussion yet, and that's ignoring the fact that he won't fight GSP.

If Hendricks and Condit win: Hendricks gets title shot.
Hendricks and Rory win: Hendricks gets title shot, Rory gets Marquardt for #1 contender.
Ellenberger and Condit win: they fight each other for #1 contender.
Ellenberger and Rory win: fight each other for #1 contender.

Not sure who fights GSP in lower two cases, maybe he takes more time off, fights Anderson, fights Marquardt right away (assuming he wins).

Ellenburger vs Hendricks was the fight i was anticipating untill Kampmann took a dump on that picture, very excited for this

  19. considering Hendricks is already the clear cut #1 contender, it would have to be Hendricks v. Ellenberger...as impressive as Rory has been, he doesnt have any top 10 wins...Condit would be his 1st and even then, hed only be 1-1 vs him...a win over Ellenberger would give Hendricks his 4th top 10 win in a row...
