Hi there,
I currently own and alternate between my 14 oz Twins Special FBGVL3 (Nagas) and 14 oz Fairtex BGV9 for bag/pad training. I got both early 2024.
I have a hand me down 16oz Fairtex BGV1 and the paddings gotten rather dense and I don't want to end up bruising my sparring partners*
I'm saving up for a new 16 oz and dedicating it for sparring and I'm currently torn between another Twins BGVL3 and the Fairtex BGV6; both variants are locally available and I won't have to put up with BS customs fees.
For sure, I can verify the pillowness of the Twins gloves; the 14 oz variant feels "soft enough" and I imagined the 16oz version won't leave a bruise on my partner's face.
I've seen the older threads on the (most recent was 2017) were the BGV6 was advocated as a sparring glove but I'm curious to know if in 2024, the BGV6 is:
- still a good choice for sparring
- just as soft/pillowy as the Twins Special bgvl3
Both my Twins and BGV9 fit just right on my hands; I find the Twins' wrist support "okay" as I focus more on wrists when I wrap my hands anyway.
Any thoughts if the newer units of the BGV6 has changed?
Thanks in adva.
*I'm definitely reserving my BGV9 for the next Charlie Zelenoff/Joaquin Montes showboat...
