The undisputed top 5 GOAT talk now is... Fedor, GSP, Silva, Jones, Aldo.

Which fighter would enter next?

-Werdum if he defend the tittle 4 or 5 times while avenge his losses?
-Cormier if he defeat Jones and back to Heavyweight an take the tittle?
- Sage if he avenge his lost to Barbenera and take the tittle?... just kidding.

Currently everyone has some catching up to do with Jones returning soon.

Werdum is the only real candidate I can think of. If he beats JDS, AA and Reem again, there's nothing left for him to prove.

Cormier would enter the discussion if he does what you said...but that's much less likely to happen.

If Conor actually won the LW belt and then defended it AND the FW belt a few times each? There would be no denying him at that point.

Cruz deserves more credit IMO. Not too keen on goat debates in general

Conor has a chance to have his name included with those guys some day. Werdum and Cormier are too old already for that, imo.

Mighty Mouse, but I don't think his achievements will ever be looked upon in the same light.

Cruz has a chance. I really don't see anyone else on the horizon at this point.

Werdum if he beats Stipe and Overeem (and Cain again, if that ever happens)
Conor if he beats RDA and a few more at LW

If Cruz defends a few times, or moves up to 145 and takes a belt. That would be very impressive.

Werdum will never be GOAT, he will just be the HW false prophet killer at best. Fedor has nothing for the top competition in an organization with drug testing. He shouldn't even be in the conversation.

"Fedor is the GOAT" "Cain Velasquez is the HW GOAT, I think he could actually beat Jon Jones!!"

I think Werdum has the wins to be in that talk. He has achieved enough to put himself on the verge of the discussion. The question is whether he can erase his mistakes (like Bob Morton).

What about BJ Penn.. if he take the tittle in his return He would be my next candidate i think.

I think this comeback will be a success if BJ Penn wins a single fight at all. If he wins another belt? Yes, he's up there with the best of them.

Werdum is the only one you havent mentioned, as he has beat the "GOAT" HW .. But GSP is still the GOAT. If Jones comes back and gets his Title back and then goes to HW it will be hard not to consider him the GOAT.

Conor knocks out RDA and its a wrap, doesnt matter what anyone does next.
He may not have as many great wins, but he showed up, said what he was going to do, did it, become the biggest star, took two belts back to back, and got the biggest contract in UFC history=GOAT, even if Jones is the better fighter on paper.

Also, Werdum would be the most boring unofficial/official "goat" of all time.

Yea he beat old unmotivated not even lifting weights any more "its gods will" Fedor, and a 47 year old Cain but that doesn't undo getting slept by prime JDS with the quickness, and butscooting a whole fight against Reem.

Conor knocks out RDA he is the greatest fighter of all time. It would be like if Babe Ruth called his home run shot every time, or Joe Namath guaranteed a victory every game. He said it as a zit faced teenager he was going to takeover the UFC and in he walks into the lion's den years later not only calling out the entire roster, but the UFC brass as well. Guy is on the brink of living legend status March 5th.

I don't think that's going to happen.

Conor is in the GOAT discussion from an out of ring perspective. His mental game is crazy. To have someone like Aldo flustered is impressive. He has a belief in himself that is magnetic. There are some guys that are gym warriors that are unbeatable in the gym, but then shrink when the lights hit them. Then there are some guys like Conor that fight better under those conditions. But if you take the outside of the ring aspect out of it he is far from the GOAT conversation. His striking is top tier, up there with the best, but he clearly needs to fill the wrestling hole in his game. He needs to defend his title at least 4 times, and he needs to prove himself vs someone who is a bad matchup for him like Frankie. Frankie wont get drawn into the mental warfare, he's all about the $$, and I don't think the McGregor show will fluster him.

As far as who is in the current GOAT discussion. Jones obviously is #1 seed. His physique, athleticism, effective unorthodox striking combined with his relaxed playful style and his true belief that his is the greatest fighter in the world is why he is the next GOAT.

#2 has gotta be Cruz. If you've ever heard his interviews and analysis you know his fighter IQ is the best in the business. He doesn't get hit. He doesn't get taken down. He lands strikes and he wins fights. End of discussion. His only lost was earlier in his career to Faber, which he ended up redeeming and beating faber years later.

#3 has gotta be Mighty Mouse. 23-2 record. 9 fight win streak. 7 title defenses. His last loss was to Cruz, #2 on this list. He got the short end of the stick for being in the smallest division. Dana, PAY THIS MAN! Well rounded in all aspects of the game. Doesn't get nervous. Has a kid like attitude and does work in the ring.
