Which do you prefer: Jack Daniels or Johnnie Walker Black Label?

Very different whiskies. Black is certainly higher quality and I would almost always choose it, but I think Daniels is better than most people give it credit for and I do enjoy the banana/bubblegum notes occasionally.

Jack Daniels for me. If I want a scotch, I want something better than Johnny Black. It’s the sort of liquor I’ll use in at a hot toddy, or that I’ll drink at the airport. I prefer Dewars for low price blended scotch. I pretty much only drink jack daniels in mixed drinks as well, but I have a certain nostalgic appreciation for jack and cokes that makes me prefer it head to head.

Jack Daniels is the OutBack Steakhouse of the category. No offense meant by that comment but it is just very generic and relatively cheap. Those are not necessarily bad things in an alcohol, especially if you get used to it.

JWB, is more tending towards the entry level fine dining of the category. Again you don't need fine dining every night. And its ok to prefer Outback if that is your thing but the fine dining and JWB are the superior products, even if you don't like them as much.

One's a whiskey, one's a blended scotch. One I'll mix the other I'll drink neat. But I don't drink either unless its name is Macallan.

Used to drink nothing but Jack in college, nothing but JWB from around mid 20's to mid 30's, now it's nothing but Grey Goose...it's been my experience that people who've drank Jack, Crown, etc. will think scotch is nasty when trying it for the first time, but it is much smoother imo once you get used to it...they're very different tastes, it's just a matter of personal preference...

I used to be a big whiskey drinker, I now prefer bourbon and can't even stand whiskey, except for Jameson.

Jack, Jim, Makers, Bulleit, Turkey... those are my usual drinks.

I drank some JD for the first time in a long while a few weeks ago and thought I’d gone crazy when I thought I tasted banana. Definitely didn’t remember that.
