okay either way, I am probably getting a white gi because a little bit of color isn't worth $30..but I might change my mind last minute and go with black, but as it stands I have it narrowed down to two gis.

Mundial #7

Mundial # 5

Now I like both of these a lot...

#7 is Carioca Weave, and #5 gold weave.

My question is...what the hell is Carioca Weave, and what makes it special/better than gold weave?

I've got KF gi that i believe is their version of gold weave and I like it a lot, but i don't know which one of these to choose, and they are the same price...but look wise I prefer the #5...but I am more concerned with quality than look because they both look pretty nice.

I have both of these, and after looking, I can't figure out the difference. The look exactly alike to me. Use the code at the bottom for 10% off if you want to get it from me.

Or if you want, buy one, I can send you both, keep the one you want and send me back the other.

be advised that the gi pants in the mundial #7 are different than any other atama gi-- they're made out of some ripstop type material. I prefer the traditional gi pants myself, but I can't honestly say I've given the #7 pants that many tries to formulate a solid, open minded opinion.

as far as the jacket weave, I can't say I noticed much difference. If anything, I found the #5 weave to be different, although it's not supposed to be.

I have both, and like them both equally.

I'd like to hear more about the Carioca Weave, myself.
Thanks in advance

not many responses about the Carioca Weave here.

Any mods gonna mind if i make a thread in grappling asking if anyone has ever used Carioca Weave/ what the hell is it?

just got my #7 the other day. rolled in it twice and loved it. the weave is real similar to the koral classic but the pants are completely different. the rip stop material is really light but hard for opponents to hold on to. the lapel is also made of the same material. overall very happy

I like the Atama # 7 jacket a lot because of the embroidery but the pants are another stories. The pants pill a lot. It started to look an old sweater after the first time I trained in it. Some of the guys at my club also have the same problem with their # 7 pants. I tried talking to Atama about it but they claimed to have never seen or had this happen it before so they won't exchange it. I wonder if anyone out there have the same problem? The collar, which is made out of the same material, also has the pilling problem. The pants feel really nice and light. However, its made with a cotton/polyester blend so it tends to feel slippery on the mat, as if you're wearing slippery socks on a laminate floor. Your butt slides around on the mat a lot so butterfly sweeps can be a little tricky.

The Carioca weave feels really soft and light, like the gold weave, but the weaving pattern is totally different. Overall, the gi is nice but the regular gold weave is just as good.

Somebody covered the difference already. Carioca weave is a tighter woven single weave, if I remember correctly.
I have an Atama double weave and it is my favorite and best fitting gi.
If you are tall and skinny, as I, get one of the standard Atama Gis, because they are prety tailored.
I don't know how the Mundial Gis are, but all my other single piece Gis are sloppy around the body (Shoyoroll, Padilla).
Hope that helps.
