He's good, but... i dont love him. He's best when paired off with someone I like more, like in Red Dragon or Brad Pitt in Fight Club.
Red Dragon is just great in general I think. But absolutely stacked cast there. I mean you’ve got Norton, Hopkins, Fiennes, Keitel, Watson, Seymour Hoffman (RIP), Mary Louise Parker.
When your seventh billed actor is someone as good as Parker, you know your cast is damn solid.
Norton is really good overall. Pretty damn versatile too. I thought he was great as Pete Seeger in A Complete Unknown and it really was widely different than any performance of his I’d seen prior.
And I think he’s one of those guys who can elevate movies with his acting. Like Primal Fear is good but he’s what makes it really memorable. American History X Is a good movie but his performance is terrific.
Late 90s into early 2000s was really a great time for him- Primal Fear, People vs Larry Flynt, Rounders, History, Fight Club, Red Dragon, 25th Hour, etc.
Rounders never gets old to me.
