While there was a LOT of punches at the end of the second, they were clearly not enough to seriously hurt Lombard. I agree that it could have been stopped, but I'm not sure I think it SHOULD have been stopped. Lombard seemed content to wait for the end of the round, which is a retarded thing to do, but Magny gave the ref no reason to think that Lombard wouldn't be able to do just that.

I was yelling at Magny to posture up and throw some elbows. That would've sealed it, IMO.

Point is, the ref is right on top of these fighters. He could tell that lombard was just gassed and trying to get a second wind. If these were devastating shots then I would agree that the fight should have been stopped in the first.
