I couldn't help but notice that Nick Diaz wasn't cornering for his brother, and I couldn't see him at all during the event? Where was he, and was there any reason for his absence?

New nazi NSAC head guy doesn't let you corner now if suspended.

USADA? Is he allowed to Corner while suspended? Just a guess don't lynch please. I didn't see him either.

The dumb ass commission made some BS rule that if you're suspended you can't be a cornerman or something

There's a video of him backstage

YouTube mma heat and you'll find it, the cameraman was about to get slapped up too

I think that's always been the rule. I remember Nate saying something about Nick not being allowed to corner him during one of his previous suspensions.

I think the new part of the rule just has to do with training while suspended.

It probably was for the best that he wasn't there. He probably would've encouraged more dog fight instead of the amazing second round performance.

I'm not totally sure but think it came to be after the guy who replaced Keith Kizer joined the reich. Wanted to throw his weight around and banned IVs around the same time too.

Been like that for years, suspended fighters can't corner or help fighters warm up. Technically, suspended fighters aren't allowed to train fighters, but good luck trying to stop that.

The rule about cornering had been around for a while:

This article is about the NJ commission allowing Nick to corner Nate for the Jim Miller fight despite being under suspension through NSAC. It notes toward the end that Nick wasn't allowed to corner Nate for the TUF 5 finale because Nick was suspended (the first time).

Diaz actually fell prey to this situation when he was suspended back in 2007, also by the Nevada State Athletic Commission, following a positive drug test for marijuana after his fight with Takanori Gomi in Pride.

The commission then ruled they would not allow Diaz to corner his brother Nate during The Ultimate Fighterseason 5 finale show in which he took on Manny Gamburyan.

Hmm, then I stand corrected. What a shit rule though. Nick is a horrific cornerman though it was probably for the best. He just stands there uncomfortably giving 3-4 word sentences of moral support.

I saw nick and his posse at the weigh ins. He was walking up the right side going towards the stage (where the fighters go down the stairs after square off.) he was immediately kicked out.
