Yeah, imagine if we could see the 3 fights offered a year for every fighter. Now that shit would be interesting."It's my job to offer these guys three fights a year"

2-4 should be expected and imo 3 should be the standard expectation. 4 fights seems to be the standard on a contract so I'd want to get 3 or 4 in a year to get that shit bumped up ASAP and if you're confident in yourself you'll take on anyone. It's hilarious how fighter pay threads increased while fighter activity decreased in the UFC. I wish fighters fought 3-5x a year and paid big for it.
I get it that if a fighter trains for a year for his opponent he'll be better prepared than someone who jumps in for 2 months, but at the same time we are reaching the point where guys want to do longer camps than fans can remember who they are to be interested. Back in 2010 and earlier, everyone knew they didn't have too long to train up but just did what they could. Guys like Pereira are revered for a reason, stepping up without waiting 6 months. Divisions would be churning and we would get to see who really is top of the rank.2-4 should be expected and imo 3 should be the standard expectation. 4 fights seems to be the standard on a contract so I'd want to get 3 or 4 in a year to get that shit bumped up ASAP and if you're confident in yourself you'll take on anyone.
2-3 month camo should be plenty of time to prepare imo, you shouldn't be getting fat as fuck between camps like fatty pimblettI get it that if a fighter trains for a year for his opponent he'll be better prepared than someone who jumps in for 2 months, but at the same time we are reaching the point where guys want to do longer camps than fans can remember who they are to be interested. It's become so normalized for fighters to only fight once a year. I just realized Olivera has only had 2 fights in 2 years since losing title to Islam. There should be more penalties to rankings for time to fights.
I get it, Olivera always felt active, so I was shocked looking at his recent record, 1-2 since 2022 (3 fights), still ranked #2 at LW. I like him as a fighter too, I'm no hater, but all the divisions are starting to jam up with guys higher ranks, losing recent records, low activity. It's definitely bizarre. Also the only way to get ranked next to them is to fight them, so its a catch 22. When we had unofficial rankings at sherdog back in the day, guys who weren't active would drop rank numbers, there needs to be something similar.Oliveira is like 50 fights deep in his career, older, and a huge name in the sport. He isn't going to be fighting as often as other young contenders.
What sucks is the young guys coming up who fight just as little.

It's almost a sick joke how many times the UFC has paired up the top 5 lightweights with each other. Don't get me wrong that they aren't bad, but I feel like we've been stuck in Dustin/Gaethje/Chandler/Olivera combos for a long time. Throw in Max/Conor/Khabib's names as well.Nad matchmaking only compounds the issue too. I mean, charles and chandler could and should both be giving younger contenders a shot to climb the rankings. What do we get instead? A pointless rematch that doesn't move the division much at all. We get horrible matchmaking like this all the damn time
I mentioned in another thread that would have been a much better main event this weekendHe should fight 'the Riddler' RDR for batman's heart
If you are going to compare stats shouldn't it all be from the same year? not just cherry picking the year that makes the fighter look better/worse for whatever your agenda is..#2 Olivera 1-2 since 2022
#3 Gaethje 2-2 since 2022
#4 Dustin 2-2 since 2021 (fought Conor 2x before)
#5 Max 1-1 since 2019 (at LW, obviously special case)
#6 Hooker 3-2 since 2021 (2 split decisions)
#7 Chandler 1-4 since 2021
I'm cherry picking but it's ridiculous a top 10 division is filled with recent records like that. It takes a fall like Tony to get out of top LW rankings. He probably could've fought less and only top guys and ranked higher than Chandler today. If you are going to compare stats shouldn't it all be from the same year? not just cherry picking the year that makes the fighter look better/worse for whatever your agenda is..
lets do it right we will start at 2019 as that is the earliest year you chose.I'm cherry picking but it's ridiculous a top 10 division is filled with recent records like that. I don't particularly hate the fighters, I will not miss a single fight of theirs. They have a big resume and history. I'm just saying the rankings have stalled and can't believe in 2024 we're getting another internal rematch with Chandler/Olivera. Probably will be a fun fight.lets do it right we will start at 2019 as that is the earliest year you chose.
#2 Olivera 1-2 since 2022 since 2019 - 9-2
