Hector Lombard is 38 years old, coming off of first TKO loss of his career and before that was coming off of a lengthy suspension for steroids. I think it's safe to say all title contender talks for Lombard can be put to rest for now, but even at his age I think he's got some potential to deliver some barn burner wins, I just don't know if he has it in him anymore to compete for a title shot at his age and with the weight cut he endures.

What are some matchups you'd like to see for Hector Lombard going forward? Would anyone like to see him back at 185 where he may be less susceptible to gassing so early? I know cardio has never been his strong suit but I can't remember him gassing as hard as he did vs. Magny when he was at 185.

Some matchups I like for Lombard: vs. Cowboy is he beats Cote, Kelvin Gastelum, Thiago Alves, Story/Saffiedine loser, or Masvidal/Larkin winner.

Well, since he just lost and this is Sherdog, I'd say he needs to:
*Switch camps
*Retire
*Drop a weight class
All at the same time.

Lots of good match ups left for Hector. Mangy just happened to be a guy uniquely suited to give him problems

After that beating he probably wont be the same

Move back to 185 that is if this makes more sense to him fight wise at this point in his career. A no weight contest against Barnett would be fucking epic though lol

Maybe a re-tooling of the game plan for him. He's still got the skills and power to win some top fights. I like both the Cowboy or Cote fight. (Cote isn't getting enough love at WW if you ask me) One thing he should never do is yo-yo and pop again. That'd be it for him.

I watched that first round against Magny twice. I think if the fight were stopped I wouldn't have griped at all.

Retire, go back on the juice, and become a full-time bodybuilder.

Lose a little muscle mass, perfect nutrition diet for 170.

Now the hard part, learn pace and strategist for a fight. lol

To Bellator ................nah I think he could contend for the title, if he can make sure he won't gas like that again.

If Cote beats Cowboy I think the UFC will give him a nice fight, especially if he can finish him.

Cuba.

The sanctions have been lifted. He can finally go home now.

You're on the right track. He's simply too bulky. He's a gorilla that first round, but he gasses so hard that he's going to continue to struggle with anyone that can survive the initial onslaught.

he should lose 5 ilbs of muscle, hes diminishing returns at his point and its hurting his cardio.
also how long does he take off? he suffered lots of punches to the head, and got rocked by a jab the 3rd round he might have a 6 month suspension.
