Where Does Anthony Johnson Get His Power?

Also, I agree with people saying he is heavy handed. It's just something people have. I have heavy hands, they actually look normal, but I used to wind a lot of my school friends when I hit 'em with a pat on the back.

Did you ever take the time to separately weigh them? God knows, they might turn out to weigh 20 lbs per piece!

Stiffness.

Do you see how awkward his kicks are? it's like he doesn't have the flexibility to kick so they are really stiff...Same goes with his hands he explodes with a stiffness.

He reminds me of a spring board, it's like his whole body explodes into one movement.

I always thought it's a combination of techniques, precision, and accuracy. But in reality, some fighters just have me scratching my head.

I hope you take caution while wanking.

Seems to be something your just born with. Anyone have a good example of anyone being considered a pillowfist fighter turning into a knock out artist? Or hell even a power puncher losing his power?

100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and 10km running every single day.

Speed kills and it looks like people dont realize how fast AJ is

People considered Cain to be pillow fisted before he KO'd Nog.

A lot of people also thought Edgar was pillow fisted before he KO'd Maynard.

JDS hasn't KO'd anyone with his hands in a long time.

From his muscles and technique?
Nope. I mean they help, but nope.

Some people just have it.

We had a lad in our club, about 72kg and 5'7. Didn't train that much and when he did throw, he threw relatively slow (easy enough for an experienced lad to weave).
But when he landed. F*ck me.

Someone hits you, it feels like a quick sting, your head moves back a little but you roll with it.
When he/someone heavy handed hits you, its like someone hits you with a book attached to the end of their fist and all that pressure is coming through the surface area of the book. It shoves your head back as opposed to just move it back.

It's really something you have to experience to understand but that's the best way I can describe it.

Bunch of shertards know nothing about power.

The key factors in generating AND delivering power:
1. Speed - acceleration from 0 to max. The faster the acceleration, the better power. This is also referred to as explosiveness by the closet gays around here.
2. Mass - this is body weight. If you accelerate two different bodies at the same rate, the heavier body generates more power.
2. Technique - this has to do with the fighter planting his feet (grounding), being in a state of relaxation before unloading his strike, torquing his entire body, utilizing the shoulder snap, and tensing up right at the moment of impact. Technique helps both generate and deliver power.
3. Joints - Your joints have to be loose enough to give the right amount of relaxation to help generate maximum power but also tight enough to deliver that power effectively when you tense up your body at the moment of impact.

Nope. Just because you KO someone, doesn't mean you have heavy hands. I recently dropped someone in a spar while wearing 16oz gloves and I don't hit very hard. I just caught him at the right time, completely different to a heavy handed fighter.

That all helps sure. But it is not the same thing as someone who is naturally heavy handed.

Have you ever been hit by someone with heavy hands?

I think the term "heavy-handed" isn't a technically correct term. It just means that the punch has more push rather than snap to it, as if sending you off balance every time it lands. I think someone who's heavy-handed as physically strong and tending to apply a "push" after landing their punch. Foreman, for example, was known for being physically strong and exceptionally heavy-handed. Tyson, on the other hand, had extremely explosive and snappy punches and was not known for being physically strong.

It's like a battering ram vs a catapult.

Don't mean to sound like a prick but I know exactly what it is. I've been hit by heavy handed people. That's why I asked you, have you ever felt it?

Because heavy handed is nothing to do with being physically strong as I alluded to in one of my earlier posts.

Look at him. It's not surprising he has power.

I wanna know where Hendo or Michael McDonald got their power.
