Still feel like Moraes has all the skills to make it to the top. He proved himself as a top guy since he came from WSOF, even receiving a title shot. I really felt like he would be UFC champ.

Has he just gotten old? Does he need to switch camps? Thoughts?

I was kind of wondering the same myself. One second, he’s being billed as “the guy” in that division, and he earned that spot, then he gets finished multiple times. Could be a mental block, because he’s looked fine physically.

Seems like he’s still too small for BW, but maintains a lot of muscle which in turn causes him to make large cuts, which in turn leaves him depleated. He’s at a weird spot in BW.
I don’t know if the losses took a toll on his confidence either.
But just my take on it.

He's a top ten guy for sure, but championship level? Never unless he improves other areas of his game like wrestling.

He lost his aura, after the Cejudo fight everyone knew he could not only be beaten but also broken.

A huge part of fighting is mental, the mental fortitude to commit to your strikes and your game plan, once an opponent loses that aura of intimidation you’ll see the opposition more aggressive and more likely to hurt that formally intimidating fighter.

Combine that with short layoffs and things can spiral out of control quickly.

Moraes is the BW equivalent of JDS when he ran into Cain (rematches):

They both had exceptional athleticism and skill but were broken by durable gritty elite wrestlers.

Triple C took his soul
I agree with u Marlon was not the same fighter after Henry destroyed him he should be on a 4 fight losing streak but that Aldo fight was a robbery Aldo should have won that fight

Been at it for years and now can't take a punch. It happens.

And lol @ people saying he's too small for BW. The guys beating him aren't bigger than him by any means- unless you count sandhagen being mad tall for the division. Funny how a couple of years ago people were calling him a weight bully and wanting him to move up haha.

Mentally broken alongside losing his ability to take a shot. He really should have taken more time off after being KO'd the way he way.

He used to be able to go 5 rounds in the WSOF and now if he doesn't finish his opponent immediately he literally gasses out within 60 seconds.... I don't get it. USADA?

The shot that dropped him didn’t seem that solid. That, coupled with his immediate attempt to wrestle, makes me wonder if he came in with a concussion or something? It was a really out of character approach for him. Pure speculation, but that loss just didn’t make a ton of sense.
