Where are they? -2019

Responding to the last post.

1. Not a good idea to co-host a show with his questionable coherence.

2 I think he started mma career when he was in high school. I guarantee you don't finish your college degree until you are completely done with mma. PHD is an educational goal for those with at least bachelor, more likely master.

3 why Chicago? He's a sensitive type that needs a lot of care and attention. I don't think he can just pick a place to fresh-start a new chapter of dean lister story.

4 that would be someone like Nate Marquardt who has never been nicknamed as the punk throughout his life.

5 I don't think Gracie family members believe in college education.

6 if he had thought about moving to North America anytime soon, he wouldn't have turned down Dana's offer in 2008.

7. Those jobs require college degree. Mma career destroys your educational plan. Ask Terry Martin.

8. He's so proud of being an Armenian that I must doubt his willingness to help out other minority individual's success.

9 fantastic job but....there's nothing as far as automobile manufacturing plant is concerned in north Carolina.

MMA became boring when everyone started to train mma.

I liked the sport more when a fighter was representing a certain style of fighting or living.

Don frye (wrestling boxing mustache) vs. Thomas Ramirez (road-rage obesity)

Fighter A (MMA) VS Fighter B (MMA) .....
Thomas Ramirez was literally some fat cab driver with zero martial arts experience who made up some bogus 200-0 record of bareknuckle fights. I think the fact his first fight ever was against Don Frye put him back into reality and into complete obscurity forever

Didn't the guy deny his involvement in neonazi activities?

I know quite a few fighters in the UFC who come from a country that constantly invades and detains minority peoples. They're destroying our environments with pollution too. Isn't it time for them to do something about it?
Yeah I think he denied this + if I'm not mistaken he was accused because on photos guys from his gang (?) was with flags that associated with Neo-Nazi or something like that.

Knowing ends our happiness. So we try to avoid the situations that teach us the truth. I don't think swearing cab drivers will be forced to learn his lessons as long as he knows who he shouldn't mess with.

Rougned Odor looked invincible when he fought Bautista.. He could prolly hold his own against some of the UFC welter weight fighters in the first 20 seconds.

Rorion Gracie used to say 95% of the real fights go to the ground. But unfortunately, outside beaches of Rio, that 20-seconds is what matters in 95% of the human brawls.

OMG Big retard is charging at you with 2 balled fists when he's hungry and angry ......what can we do now? Does your martial art training have any solutions? I doubt it....unless you're an international level grappler or boxer weighing 220 lb at least and bench pressing 350 lb.

strange comment from you..you don't need more than 150 pounds to knock anyone charging at you out, Strength and size are the order of the day in Grappling, even an untrained Gorilla can wreck a black belt with pure power..but 99% of street fights are like you said the first 20 seconds, and anyone trained in basic boxing will either knock that Gorilla out our just side step out of the way lol...I guess they don't teach you lateral movement or basic weight transfer when punching in those fancy kickboxing and MMA classes lol

70 Kilogram used right will knock absolutely anyone the fuck out, if they charge you won't even need that much

The hilarious thing is that Brazilian Ji-jitsu works for 1 on 1 fights between weight matched ,. unarmed and non crazy/non drugged opponents only..the worst art to use for self defense..(not to mention that your street cred will fall to negative when they see you rolling around with another man..)but those Gracie boys know how to make a nickel..

Update on shungo oyama

After retirement, he founded his own business "fightness" a total fitness system that incorporates MMA training programs with conventional workouts at gym. He visits companies and schools across the country to give demos and seminars.

He was the kind of fighter who gave his hand to a downed opponent who would catch it into sumission (and refuse to let go). He's a compassion provider who should fit this type of business.

FIGHTNESS ( short for FIGHT AND FITNESS) may not be a marketable name but who could predict TaeBo (silliest name possible) to develop into a big business with revenues over multi million dollars?

The worst popular art for self defense would be Aikido imo. I respect people who do it and I think it's a good way to raise self esteem especially as you get old. (Highly combatitive sports will make you a loser after 35. There's barely an exception.)

The special detail about Aikido taught in north America is they've got very high percentages of practitioners being Caucasian and/or Jewish. What they expect from learning martial arts might be a bit different from the rest. Aikido was founded by ultra right religious nationalists from war periods of Japan so non Japanese training Aikido seems a little strange tbh, but you know the majority of Muslims in the world today don't speak or understand Arabic though it is rendered mandatory.

Your claim of BJJ losing its effectiveness reminds me of a Cesar Gracie quote from years ago. The same sport that many thought as the most complete fighting system in 1994 no longer works for men's MMA and wrestlers who mastered guillotine choke dominate the sport entirely.

I think BJJ is a very effective art when fought at dojo or on the beach of Rio where there is no hard surface and time limit for a fight between 2 grown men with taxes and bills to pay. This is however not the way people fight outside Brazil or outside kindergarten. You're only given a minute or two to express your fighting will and perform Texas ranger choreography. It doesn't matter what you believe you can do after reversing positions in 15 minutes.

I am not going to join those who put their trust in boxer's chance. I mean the word boxing used to be a synonym for fighting. Michael Landon never had to wrestle to take care of physical conflicts with Minnesota honky and knight rider also always finished his fights with a few blows to the face and mid section. Kicking was an exclusive technique used by a little trump Charlie Chaplin that was supposed to be funny and grappling was gay in good old times. However, is boxing that effective in countering an aggressor coming at you like (censored)? I wonder.

In UFC, you've seen many fights end in standing KO/TKO because they were wearing gloves. It would be much harder to knock out your opponent with uncovered fists. Remember Patrick Smith had to use series of hard elbow strikes from mount to finish a can? A big retard will run over you and unleash 10-15 retard punches to your head if you can't successfully knock him out with one bare nuckle punch or sway on until the retard is tired.

I know you know Judo and were probably good at it but boxing is a totally different philosophy to Judo..i'll give you an example..Judo guys run in the forest near the Dojo as a warm up every day but a good boxer will run BACKWARDS for 1 kilometer every day..

Why ? You mostly run backwards and sideways in boxing..What does it give you in a street fight ? You don't like the situation ? You can run backwards faster than your opponent(s!) can forwards..that's why boxing gives you..movement...this is what every single Asian martial arts misses except maybe Tai Chi which maybe teaches you to stay in the park with all the other people and never get into a fight..but other than Tai Chi no Asian martial arts teachers you to run away and boxing does..so Boxing is superior by a mile when it comes to street fights and defense..

What about offense ? Any decent boxer can if he wishes, punch with his entire body weight behind him, nice straight punches and not only that but punch on the counter, when punching on the counter that 300 pound retard's body weight is gonna be added to your power..his momentum is going one way, your momentum is going the other way, his momentum is added to yours when your fist hits his head..Yes..counter strikes kill..it's why all the smartest fighters specialize in counter striking and outfighting..and it's also why counter strikers often have skinny arms..because you don't need any kind of arm power..you literally just have to tap your opponent when they explode forwards and they go down..you just have to tap the big retard and he falls..like I said..it's a different philosophy to Judo..explosives is the enemy in boxing and every good boxer wants his opponent to explode forward

Judo/BJJ/Wrestling, those are brutally effective in ring and in the Dojo as you said (Wrestling much more than Judo and BJJ, again as you said) , but boxing is just a lot more practical to learn and use if you have an IQ above 109 (Floyd is the smartest sportsmen in the world and thus the the richest)

Let's not forget the what happened when the best Chin in the world, That of Mark Hunt's was easily cracked by some 180 pound kickboxer moving backwards, why ? Counters work and they kill

In both traditional and full contact karate, we learn to step backward while setting up for counter moves. In kendo, retro running counter attack is one of the most common moves you see in a spar. But I agree that the way a boxer puts all his weight on a thrown arm to maximize momentum can cause a lot of damage to be backfired on himself when countered correctly.

They fought a year before Hunt vs Manouf. You can hear the Japanese guy's coach from the corner yelling at him "don't try to do anything but counter. "- possibly the only way to beat roided & GH'd beast from the continent of Hercules.

Your enthusiasm for the idea of skinny guy tapping goliath to death by counter punch is awesome. There's some truth in its theory. I know Chris Leben is not the only beneficiary of step back & counter technique....Anderson vs Griffin, Takada vs Tamura.....plenty of examples from famous fights.

However, victims of counter punch have gotten smarter too and now they don't chase their opponents with full power swinging motions. Look how they extend their arms without getting inside to reach for the targeted area and follow as the opponent moves using extended arm like a fencing sword. Anderson vs Weidman (1) Sakuraba vs Wanderlei (3).

I'm not sure if I start training boxing to prepare for a possible situation to encounter a big angry bum charging at me in the ball park or one way street.

Where is Paul Sass at? He got signed to bellator, won one fight, now he hasn't fought in 6 years.
