No I don't either, I'd be picking Francis BUT I think Ngannou does have some inherant unpredictability to him so I wouldnt rule out an upset were as I think Gane, should he have the beat of Jones might well be very dependable in doing so.

Both are hell of a fighters and very dangerous for not only Jones but for every HW fighter in this planet

I’ve always doubted how serious he was about taking a HW fight. And now with his new legal troubles, it seems even more unlikely. I’ll believe it when I see it.

If he takes care of his personal business outside the cage. I would love to see him fight at HW sometime next year.

But with Jones anything can happen. He's so volatile, he could be good for a bit and than fall off the rails.

I reckon the idea of him vs Ngannou just slowly disappears and people forget about it with him unofficially retiring.

Soon I hope! Dana been keeping Jon down but the fans want to see him fight. Jones is ready and waiting.

The longer Stipe goes without a fight booked, the more I think he's fighting Jones. We shall see.

he's never fighting again. here's why:

1) logistics: he has no gym, no trainer, no manager, etc. this doesn't make it impossible to fight, but it makes it difficult to get back in there. he has alienated a lot of people in the fight game and is running out of friends.

2) he's past his prime. jones' whole legacy is being undefeated (because he's pissed away everything else). i don't think his ego could handle a legit defeat, so he won't risk tarnishing the last kernel of his legacy by losing.

3) his heart isn't in the fight game anymore. this is obvious from the things he has said and his performances. he's not motivated to fight the sorts of guys who were challenging him. he can only get excited for "big money fights," and at that point we know the fighter is mentally checked out.

4) he's probably under USADA investigation. his decision to vacate the belt makes 0 sense. jones was so adamant about fighting multiple times a year to make up for lost time. then he gave up the belt for no reason. holding the belt gives you leverage. makes 0 sense to give it up.

5) crimes outside of the cage. jones has had two arrests since he last fought. he'll probably not get any jail time for DV, but that doesn't look good to the public record. now that UFC is involved with Disney, we've seen mainstream media go after them and affect their business. the DV thing really hurts Jones' market value.

5) jones doesn't negotiate well with UFC and milky kawa isn't there to help him anymore. the longer he's inactive, the more his marketing value decreases. jones thinks he's worth a lot of money. if he decides to come back in a year or so, UFC is not going to pay him tens of millions of dollars for a fight at HW. they'll hold him under contract and offer him fights at a non-championship rate, just like they did to the diaz bros. i think jones has too much of an ego to come back for less than what he thinks he's worth.
