He's the key to accessing the Asian market for the UFC. 15-1, his only loss is by a split decision, only two of his fights went to decision the rest are all knock-outs with the majority being in round 1

If he was Irish he would be incredible hyped already

How wierd to think that a Korean fighter would grant the access to all of Asian market. He can headline an event in South Korea but I doubt he's a major draw anywhere else.

He called out Cub, thats as real opponent as he can ask for at this point. I think he's legit though, can't wait to see more of him

He should go up to 155, so he can face the goat. Sage Northcutt.

Akiyama did pretty well even though he lost most of his ufc fights

Akiyama is part of the Korean minority in Japan and was already pretty well known from judo when he got into MMA. By the time he came to the UFC he was famous both in Japan and South Korea.

You can't really compare DHC and Akiyama.

I'm a huge fan and there are plenty others on Sherdog.

Let's not start with the "If he was Irish....", "everything is a racist conspiracy" routine.

He doesn't speak English and his last Twitter post was 7 months ago....

I'd say that "not being Irish" is the least of his "lack of hype" issues.

He'll get his chance and prove what he's got soon enough. I like him and his weird personality and I sure as fuck don't want a Korean version of McGregor.

War Korean Superboy.

His fights make me lol...Choi looks like a little kid whipping the ass of grown men.

I'm a big fan, Thiago is agreat fighter for his 3rd ufc fight. I wan see Stevens vs superboy! (cub would be good too) but man is superboy ever calm cool and collected I the octagon

Tavares is legit.

Its pretty cool how both Choi's and Ortega's careers are playing out in the ufc. Both won all their fights, and are exciting as fuck.

Choi should face Guida and see how that goes, but I think Choi would tko Guida.

Tavares embarrased Guida and has Been a Solid fighter (even more so -a grappler)for years. Choi has taken the right steps though I wish he was more active.

Tavares is a "real fight" and a fantastic opponent for any prospect to prove their hype is for real.

He should fight winner of Elkins vs Pepey, that will be a bottom of the top 15 guy on a three or four fight run. He should have a logical progression, not somebody like Cub after Tavares.

Maybe after they do another UFC in Korea and make some money off him, they will feed him to the wolves.

I fully support Asian fighters, my wife is Asian and always roots for the Asian fighters as do I...lol

ugh, these guys are pretty average

put him against cub like he asked (since I don't think kawajiri will win)

Tavares isn't a real opponent?

They should do another Korea event, with him fairly high up on the bout card.

Thiago Tavares is really good. Not top 10 and maybe not top 15 but he's really good offensively and posed some problems for DHC stylistically. DHC wanted Kawajiri and now wants Swanson/Kawajiri winner. I think that makes a lot of sense and should be a good way for him to earn himself a spot in the top 15. If he were to beat KAwajiri/Swanson winner then I would love to see him against Stephens/Oliviera/Lamas to truly see if he's ready to hang with the top guys. Hopefully he fights before the year ends

Me too. My wife is Asian and always roots for Asian fighters. So do I. I'm also Asian by the way.

My kids are 1/2 Asian, my wife is Thai and I spent allot of time living between Korea, Japan, Philippinnes and Thailand. I used to Hangul a bit and can get by in a few other languages, therefore I feel a connection to the culture as strange as that sounds.

The KZ is by far my favorite fighter BTW
