I would say the smaller guys at flyweight are much more evolved fighters than the heavier weights, they just have small limbs and lack power.

Dumbest topic of the day on April Fools day no less... MM is the most evolved fighter in MMA. He has the best stand up, wrestling, and BJJ in the division. It's not that other guys at 125 aren't training these disciplines or aren't good at them, it's just MM is the man.

Evolve? Imo oppinion fw fighters are technical much better then most fighters in bigger weight classes.

But they are small and have no KO power, so nobody cares.

Flyweights have great skill but are ultimately not great MMA fighters, in the same way 5'3" b-ball players/sprinters/tennis players etc. are usually terrible pro athletes regardless of skill level. They are simply too small.

Evolution would require significant growth which is basically impossible without gene splicing, and that's beyond the current scope of science.

Sorry, but the analogy is terribly silly. Why was Royce Gracie not a great fighter? When techniques evolved that made him look dated, fighters of all sizes practised them, not just larger ones. Also, if it were somehow possible to place Demetrious Johnson with his current skill set in the open weight UFC tournaments, I would bet a lot of money on him; he has a lot more going for him than the basic jiu jitsu that allowed Gracie to subdue much larger opponents.
