When did tapping out become a thing in wrestling?

First time I saw someone tap out was Scott Norton against Ice Train in what I think was a 95 "submission match" at either World War 3 or WarGames, Ice Train got Norton in a full nelson and Norton could only tap on Ice Trains arm.

\I'm going off memory and I've done alot of drugs and drank since then so take it with a grain.

Tapping is as old as pro wrestling and even older. Verbal or physical submission in catch as catch can wrestling.

I mean come on people.

They were tapping in the Snakepit Wigan when Adonis was learning to fight for real and for show. Cant be fucked to find the Cornette episode on this.

And it’s in the Judo rules for 1905.

Somebody can molest Cornette or Ron Fuller on this. Taz and Shamrock did not invent this even if Vince didn’t have it in his rules.

Here’s a tap out from 1961 and Lou Thesz didn’t invent it as well.

I think Cornette prefers you molest his wife.

Saying Uncle was the preferred way to win by hook back in the day...although a large number of the "classical," catch holds were designed to force turnovers and tilts more than straight subs.

It was around a little bit but it became common with ECW and Ken Shamrock in the WWF.
