When America Was Great...

Fine, he can have one of these beers. I didn't put roofies in it or anything.

There that should settle your angry friend down a bit. A nice beer with the beautiful first lady that doesnt even have roofies in it.

Yeah, after a nice frosty beer he'll forget all about it. In fact he'll probably forget everything that happened the whole night.

"When was America great" seems like a bait question to me.

America always had great qualities about it throughout its history but there have always been good and bad things to point out.

I'd assume what Trump means.. is that he wants to strengthen the US dollar, produce high-quality American products etc

To be honest it's similar to what Obama did with his bullshit "Change" campaign... just a general statement about making things better.

LOL, trump's promises are like a fortune cookie, you can read whatever you want into it.

You say it's about the US dollar and American products, while others assume it's about religion and keeping brown people out of the country. The only difference is Trump actually has a plan for the latter.

Although I agree with your obama comparison somewhat, at least Obama had an outline of what he was going to "change:" End Iraq war to put focus on afghanistan, health care reform, financial regulations, equal rights, end torture, etc.

According to Mr. Trump America was great at the turn of the 20th century...

...and again in the 40s and 50s.

So what do you guys think? Is this the time in history when America was "great" and if so then for who? Do you guys think it was great for minorities, women, and lgbt peoples?

I think it was great for all americans. What country would they have been better off in? Black children had it better as only 30% of black families were single mother vs 80% now.
So what are you? A racist? You want black people in poverty? Because all you have to do to not be in poverty in america is 1) graduate high school 2) hold a job 3) do not have kids before getting married

"Let politicians, schoolteachers and administrators, community leaders, ministers and parents drill into children the message that in a free society, they enter adulthood with three major responsibilities: at least finish high school, get a full-time job and wait until age 21 to get married and have children.

Our research shows that of American adults who followed these three simple rules, only about 2 percent are in poverty and nearly 75 percent have joined the middle class (defined as earning around $55,000 or more per year). There are surely influences other than these principles at play, but following them guides a young adult away from poverty and toward the middle class."

Even tho there was institutionalized racism against them, they should be grateful because they were better off here? Lol . That's like saying the colonial British who lived in America shouldn't complain about the laws and taxes imposed on them because they were far better off under British rule than being ruled by the French.

It was not a good time for African Americans no matter what way you try and rationalize it.

Great for all Americans compared to now? I'm sure it was great for blacks to sit in the back of the bus and for lgbt peoples to hide they're sexual orientation. Also I highly doubt minorities had tons of advancement opportunities compared to now.
