What was the Volk gameplan? I watched that fight recently and Volk out struck Aldo for 11 minutes of a 15 minute fight. People act like all volk did was hug. I don't see benson being able to outstrike Aldo like Volk did.

He pressured, kicked, clinched, and those two are very good all three as well

Aldo tended to fade a little late if his challenger made it to late rounds. With the right game plan any of those fighters would beat him - so the answer is none of them on a majority of the time. Aldo did have finishing ability so he definitely had a chance against all of them.

His best fight might could have been against Alvarez who is not listed because Aldo had lost to McGregor. Aldo would have a higher chance of finishing him in my opinion.

EDIT* Frankie had a fairly close fight with Aldo at FW but definitely lost. At a higher weight I think Frankie would be able to dominate him in most chances.

At 155 he only beats Frankie and Penn imo. Unless Penn is at his best, motivated and whatnot.
He goes 50-50 with Pettis.
Loses to Benson and RDA imo. Unless RDA has a bad weight cut (like the Alvarez fight).

Much respect to Aldo, but I think he would have been badly outsized at 155. He's like 5'7 at most while most of these guys are 5'8+. They all outweigh him. It's usually Aldo who outsizes his opponents, but not the case in these scenarios

Penn, Pettis, and Edgar. He is a better striker than Pettis, and much more gritty and full of heart. He murks Penn, and with Edgar it is 50/50 I think.

Benson is too strong and big, and in his prime he was insanely good. RDA is too well rounded and strong a grappler, and also too big, I think.

The first fight was competitive but it was clear that Aldo had win by the end. Frankie was doing better in the 2nd half of the fight but not enough to overcome the lead Aldo had run up on him.

I wasn't disputing the decision, but rather the claim that Aldo "ran through" Edgar. That's just hyperbole.
