What's Your Next Purchase? V5

I've left a voicemail message for this guy for the last 3 days now and still nothing, is it out of line from your perspective to show up at his house to ask what's going on? I really don't want to get this guy in trouble if it turns out his cellphone has just been missing/he's been out of town or something. Either way I can't just have my already paid for pistol sitting there at his house in limbo.

Dang . . . 3 days and nothing? I would confirm that it was delivered and then definitely stop by to see if you can complete the transfer. The ATF requires us to have some type of business hours listed so you should be able to at the very least show up then.

I used to have a great guy that would do my transfers in his house. He finally got fed up with California and moved out of state, and since then I've played hell trying to find a reliable FFL.

Is there not a store around you?

The LGSs here are scumbags. Shitty customer service/attitudes/boiler room style sales tactics, enormous markups, 100 bucks per transfer, etc. I won't support them, even if it means going through stuff like this.

Just got back from his house... and boy do I feel like an asshole. Nicest guy, clean and professional operation out of his house. The reason he wasn't getting back to me? His mother has been in the hospital, and he's been going straight there after work. Anyway this guy is great and I've found my new FFL.

Fucking ridiculous

Yeah it's absurd, all of the LGS are in cahoots around here and charge the same. This guy I'm using got his FFL after his son was charged 150 bucks total to transfer an AR off gunbroker. Highway robbery.

Holy shit that is ridiculous. The place I go to is $10 with ccw, $15 without for transfers. Places I consider expensive are like $45 for a transfer. $100-150... absolutely absurd.

Glad you got it all worked out . . . and $150 for a transfer is completely ridiculous.

Yeah, they're basically saying "Think you're getting closer to wholesale by not buying from our stock? Guess again."

Minus the absurd transfer price, that's pretty much gunstores everywhere. The ones that aren't are an anomaly. Oddly enough one of my favorite local places is a pawn shop. I've built a rapport with the owner and he notifies me when any milsurps or commie guns come in.

There is a new small gunshop here that will do them for $15. He's close by and doesnt try and tear mouths out on his prices. I go to him for any transfers and odds and ends that I could find a little cheaper online, but I want to support honest merchants in some way. I feel like $25 is excessive, I couldn't imagine paying $100. The audacity.

If someone is making more than $150 on a firearm they're either ripping someone off or they're selling a really popular weapon.

The gunstore I'm thinking of in particular was hawking shield 1.0s for 500, XD's for 650, base model P226s for 950 (off the top of my head from my last visit). They were also selling the base model P2000 I bought for 100 more than the night sight LE model I bought new online.

They're all about squeezing the non-internet-savvy blue hairs and novices out of every dollar they can. They've got a sweet indoor range though.

My friend is getting ready for the December 15th moose season and asked if he could borrow a rifle from me, I do t like lending my nice rifles so I pulled out that ruger American 6.5cm I won at the turkey shoot, used some random Burris rings I had laying around and mounted a vortex viper hs 2.5-10 I also had. We went to sight it in and ended up shooting it out to 500yds, crazy how accurate that set up is for its actual $$$ value which altogether is probably like 650.00.

Now I'm on the prowl for a nice 6.5cm to keep for myself, that kimber Adirondack is probably my next purchase.

It's such a tough call between those two. On one hand I know the Barret is awesome but the kimber is so damn light and I like the 3 position safety.

They both look fantastic. The Kimber being Sub 5 lbs is pretty awesome and I personally really like the camo pattern.

I really am leaning more towards an Adirondack, light, compact, accurate as hell, reliable....

Sometimes it's tempting to just order up a NULA but I've never really got to play with one long term, just a few rounds at a range. So I'm not really so sure I'm getting much more than I'd get from a kimber.
