What's Your Next Purchase? V5

Marlin makes some good 22 rifles. Actually I sort of like them better than the 10/22 because some of them are closer to the size of a real rifle. 10/22s always feel like little kids guns to me.
My dad has a Marlin .22 lever action

I've never tried their lever action 22s but we had one that was tube fed, the thing was ridiculously accurate.
Same as my dad. He was talking about trading for a Henry .22 and I did my best to convince him otherwise without just out and out going "don't do it"

Yeah if I have a gun that works wel for me, I don't like to get rid of it. The only things I get rid of are project guns that just never happened, that's why I'm about to dump like 4 hunting rifles lol.

Right now I'm thinking a lot about finally just going hard for real big trophies, I've never really gotten a truly monster white tail, I've gotten big elk but never one that could get displayed at sportsmans warehouse.

I'm thinking the next few years that's going to be my goal. I want to build a rifle that's 800+ yard capable that weighs 8lbs or less scoped and loaded up so I can carry it through the mountains.

That's where my minds at these days.

I've had animals in my sporting scope that I swear we're record book animals only to not be close enough to get them. Now I want to build something that can make those long shots reliably....and be light enough to haul around the back country for a week at a time.

Can't wait to get started back up on this new project of mine. Receiver should be here in a week and I'll try to grab a barrel in the next month or so after and have my LGS smith either lap it or mount/fit it to the receiver for me.

Dad has a lathe but neither of us are gunsmiths.

Then the project of saving as much as I can for a super awesome optic like a US Optic or Nightforce would be next. Chassis is the easiest part to get honestly.

Those us optics scopes are sweet. Not something I really need but my friend has one that is mounted on some super nice custom sniper rifle he bought.

I'll get something much more powerful than I. Ormally use for my long range build but nothing like a us optics or a night force probably.

I normally go with 3-9 and 4-10 x 36-44 or so, nothing crazy.

For the new rifle I'll go with something bigger.

I have both a Marlin tube-fed semi auto and Ruger 10/22 . . . both really solid guns. My brother just recently bought some Henry Goldebnboys for his 3 sons . . . those things are nice rifles.

I might just buy one myself to keep as an family heirloom or something to give my girls (and hopefully their grandkids) on down the road.

I just saw on Facebook that ruger is releasing the American predator models in a package with a vortex scope.

Msrp is like 700 bucks but rugers are notorious for being sold waaaaay under msrp. I may grab one of these in 22-250 if I see one at a good price (like 500 dollars).

Those Americans seem to get good reviews and I really want a 22-250 but don't see the need to spend bank on a gun that's mostly just going to ride in the truck when I'm out cruising around the woods or desert. If I can finding one for 5 hundred bucks and use my midway gift certificate to grab a few mags, it could make a cool little gun.

My neighbor bout one of those Ruger packages from me in 30.06 with a Vortex scope. He loves it.

Nice . . . I'll keep my eye out.

Yeah they JUST put it on their website. The Americans are good for what they are. My dads buddy recently closed out an amazing season (elk, bear, deer, sheep) all with Ana American in 30-06.

Problem with those Christensen is the stocks, lotsnofnreports of there being nonpillars in the stocks so you crush the stock taking it to proper torque and it won't stay torqued.

How does a company put out a product like that
