What's Your Next Purchase? V5

If I were to do my entire handgun collection over again and streamline it, I'd buy a Glock 22 Gen 4, a 9mm barrel, the Advantage Arms .22LR conversion kit and call it a day.

The way I see it is, if 9mm flies off the shelf during a panic buy, .40 could still be an option, all while practicing more regularly, using cheap .22LR.

I hate 40 caliber, and ammo shortages for 9mm are the only reason I'd keep a 40 caliber pistol around.

30-06 on the other hand has been a staple for me for 25 years, I've taken a break from it chasing more velocity and exotic cartridges (weatherby magnums mostly) and always come back to the 30 06....or 270...or 300wm which is actually only 2-4 dollars more per box in my neck of the woods.

30-06 might be dead at the range and precision shooting groups but in the circle of hunters and survivalists, it's alive and well with no sign of going anywhere.

I'm not good at talking people out of gun purchases I can't even control myself. This picture is less than half of my guns, I have another safe like this and a few shitty stack on cases as well.

If you look though, the rifles with stickers on the barrel are all vanguards, I think this picture was taken the day we bought them. There's 3-4 other weatherbys in there too.

I'll also add that 300wby mag is a fantastic cartridge. It really is imo the ultimate big game cartridge. It's just expensive to shoot. I've taken sheep in Arizona and Alaska with 300wby and absolutely love it. It's not for everybody though. There's a 300wby mag I. That picture (it's the black one with the muzzle break), the wood stock with the muzzle break is a 378wby mag.

I'm starting to wonder if I should hold off on the 30-06 for a bit and just grab a new scope to mount on my dad's WinMag. He has a 3-9 (not sure of objective size or tube size) but the focus adjustment is really really stiff and the elevation and windage are capped and aren't even capped turrets, the adjustments I would need a screwdriver or quarter to make the adjustment.

Actually, thinking about it his scope might be a fixed 9x scope.

I'm trying to decide between the 375hh i was talking about or getting a Marlin guide gun in 45-70 and putting skinner sights and a big lever loop on it....they would be similar in price by the time I did the mods on the Marlin.

The skinner sights are awesome.

Oh man - Made the mistake of dry firing a PPQ the other day... Is this the best trigger on a striker-fired pistol?

Also, I'm due for an AK. I've got 3 ARs but no AK and I have a spare armor plate I want to shoot with 7.62 - Anyone wanna school me on AKs? What to stay away from, what to get?

I've heard the ppq is great but I never got around to shooting one. I did shoot the pps though once and I actually liked it quite a bit for what it is.

I just got one of these. Instead of being branded as Seekins it's by Mean Metal Guns.

I have tried to do research on AK's myself and it is quite tasking. So many manufacturers and whatnot.

The biggest question is what do you want from it.

This has some decent info.

From what I've read this is one of the best places to buy a high quality set up. Not exactly cheap though.

They made an awesome imo set up with silencerco as well.

The people I have heard of are these guys:
http://allamericanarmory.us/

That company and:
http://www.tenex-inc.com/

Are either in my county (Tenex) or just one county over (All American) and my understanding is they are willing to hunt down guns for you even if you live out of state.

I'm debating between choate or butler creek for a folding stock on my mini. What's your guys thoughts, if any?

I've shot minis a lot....I mean a lot. I've tried them with all sorts of aftermarket shit and I have to say, I don't like anything other than the factory stock for those rifles.

Butler looks like it wouldn't really be comfortable to shoot imo. Thin metal cheek weld. So probably choate.

Maybe something like this could work and be very unique for a mini if there is an AR stock adapter.

Yeah I'm getting it more for the compactness it offers, I know it'll take some getting used to.

I wwould really dig on that design, I've done some digging but short of making one myself, I don't think they're out there.

But, but, but...those stocks aren't designed for COMBAT! They're so awkward and clumsy, see:

LOL, feel bad for already derailing one of your threads. Back on topic, anyone ever try Ribz front packs?

Kinda interested, aside from hydration, looks like it can serve my bowhunting needs.
