What's Your Next Purchase? V5

Bought a set of Lasergrips yesterday for a pistol that doesn't even have a slide. Fuck you and your occasional ridiculous deals DVOR. And today deals on reloading supplies opened up...

Was browsing some firearm sales and came across this Winchester shotgun. SX3 sport carbon

Now I saw this and was surprised as it looks extremely similar to a Benelli shotgun(super sport performance shop)

Just kind of surprised winchester was allowed to make that, pretty shameless imo. Pretty sure Benelli and Winchester aren't owned by the same group.

Once you start hitting competition guns (which those are I think) especially for shotgun they're all very similar though aren't they?

Idk I'm talking aesthetics. Maybe a lot more exist that look like those (haven't seen it) but carbon fiber/stainless with red anodized parts. I just figured they would have done a different color or something. Green, blue whatever.

Idk it just looked so similar as I was scrolling. I can see why they did it, it looks great imo.

That is crazy lol. Maybe Winchester is trying to sell more shotguns. I was reading that over the past 10 years their sales of anything other than model 70s and lever action 30-30s has been abysmal.

That actually makes sense to me as I've never even held a Winchester that wasn't a m70 or even been curious enough to try to handle or read about anything other than the 70.

My friend has one of their shotguns and loves it but I have no idea what model or type it is.

I think I might buy a compact Polymer 80.

I've never even seen their shotguns other than pictures and I probably saw some on the shelf at sportsmans or somewhere but I've never known anybody who had one.

There is a guy in a village like 35 miles from me that has a NIB Winchester 70 classic stainless for sale. It's a pretty cool looking gun it's stainless/synthetic with open sights in 308. It's not being made any longer. There's no way my wife would approve so I'm not even trying.

The main office for my employer has several winchester Alaskan 375s, they are sort of cool all of them are pretty old, banged up wood and rubbed off bluing but apparently they all arenin good working order. People take them when they work in certain areas.

I guess I can't blame them, I personally really like that look. I plan on owning that Benelli performance shop.

Outside of my one friend having one I am in very much the same position.

Really need to get myself a 12 gauge at some point.

Where's the best place to get police trade-in firearms? Starting to rethink getting an 80% lower for a pistol so I can basically have everything but shit like a new barrel to allow me to shoot lead out a Glock and the sights/red dot.

I've never done any competing with guns or done any gun games like 3 gun or anything but could there be some sort of rule or regulation of some sort that would require those guns to look like that????

I doubt it but it's just really strange, those are so similar it's ridiculous.

I have a few 12g shotguns but nothing fancy like those. Just an 870 wingmaster and an 870 express that's just an el cheapo HD sort of gun.

My dad has a bunch I've over unders and semi auto shotguns, he's all about that. Shooting trap and skeet a few times a week.

Everything from Taran Tactical is on a ridiculous level of expensive. Their mag extension things for a Glock as an example are like $50. I'd rather take that and buy a leg rig/mag carrier and a couple more mags for $100.

My dad has 3 shotguns, 2 20 gauge ones and 1 12 but I'd like to get a Supernova for myself.

It's $50ish including the mag with a +4/5 round plate. $41 for just the 5 plate, $31 for 3.

@spamking

Since I know you have one of these frames:

Also Spam, I've been looking at the Loki-tactical website and I am wondering if you have to send the slide in and you can't just buy one from them... this is the only frustrating thing about doing the Polymer80... You have to get a slide solo which seems to be annoyingly hard to find.

I'm thinking of overhauling my kimber montana.

I'm thinking of buying a titanium bolt handle and trigger guard and hacking an inch or 2 off the barrel.

Also thinking it would be cool to get it hydro dipped or something in kuiu vias camo.

Or possibly trying to paint my own pattern on it. I don't have any interesting looking or customized guns right now, just black stocked stainless barreled rifles.

I was thinking it would be cool to make that montana as light as I possibly can since I carry it and hike with it all the time. Plus it would be awesome for next years she season....hopefully I draw 14c (chugach) or Tok management area.

Or I may just say fuck it, sell a few rifles and order up that new Barrett fieldcraft that already has a 21" barrel.

Still waiting for some reviews of that one.

Steven Rinella was saying on his podcast a couple times he prefers heavy rifles as they're better shooting, at least in his preference.

I agree with that. I don't think there's any argument there.

For different applications though, the tradeoff is worth it. If im hunting moose, well I'll take a bigger gun because I'm not on Streep terrain, I'm mostly hiking through swamps and rafting and stuff, there's less need for saving weight.

The kimber montana is already super light at just 5lb 2 oz in 308 (according to the website, I've never weighed it). And that gun has more of a specific use and that's tonbe carried...everywhere. For things like bighorn sheep, you are mostly mountaineering for days on end carrying everything so light weight makes sense.

I figured I'd hack off some barrel just because it will make it easier to maneuver through dense brush and save a little weight, plus I can't imagine using the threaded barrel. The bolt handle and trigger guard are cool and would also save a few oz.

You are right, heavier rifles shoot better for most, I think you can learn to shoot ultralights just as well though, it just takes practice as any little flaw gets magnified.

I can shoot thdon't montana quite well and I recently gave another montana to my friend in a neighboring village and he shoots that one amazingly well.

I've heard rubella talk about that left hand 7mm custom rifle he used to use but now he's sponsored by savage so I think he just uses their stuff now. They make a light rifle but I can't imagine it's all that nice.
