Bread is the hardest to go without because it is the most convenient.
 
Potato, because French Fries.
 
Had to go with rice. I don’t think I could face life without curry & rice.

Potatoes are by far the most versatile. You can make flour from potatoes and create bread, or just a potato loaf. Gnocchi is also potato pasta. So...yes, potato.

I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve had gnocchi and been disappointed, including my last few trips to Italy.
 
Kudos on being meticulous but - despite potatoes being off to a good start - isn't it a given that this will end up being a showdown between bread and pasta?
 
Pasta in general, but a good stuffed baked potato is hard to beat.

Do any of you guys eat the skin?
