in the business i have tried almost every beer, wine, liquor, and you know what. It is all the same shit. If i want something for taste i will buy a pack of sour patch kids candy. You know if you just want to get drunk you can drink liquor which saves you the embarrassment of drinking Natural Ice, right?
Lagunitas Lucky 13, but it's not around anymore so I'll put Smog City California Love
Stone Buenaveza
Pliney the Elder
Brouwerij West Popfuji
Beachwood Brewery Mocha Machine
The Celebrator is pretty easy to find around here. Well, relatively. The two or three best beer shops have it. I was very happy to find that I have two bottles left, hiding in a lonely nook, from my holiday beer-build up. Tonight may be their doom. Sunday tops.Thankfully Founders decided to do KBS (and CBS which is also very good) year-round instead of seasonally so it's easy to find around here now. I really wanted to try Goose Island's barrel aged stuff but you simply can't get it here. Very few cases are sent this way and they're immediately bought up (I suspect by the shop owners TBH). Oberon and M-43 (which is easily my favorite IPA) are my two go-to beers during the Summer. I have to drive a bit to find Celebrator, but I absolutely love it. Edmund Fitzgerald is probably my favorite Porter and the beer I reach for in the colder months when I'm not up to paying $20~ for a 4-pack of the aforementioned offerings from Founders.
damn that sucks. Apparently that company purchased Alpine and Green Flash (two local SD breweries) and is shutting down all SD operations and moving them to like Atlanta. Sucks because my buddy works up at the Alpine location.
Green Flash management must be (or was, since I'm sure they're replaced now) poor, maybe just inexperienced. They built and opened a large -ish brewery here in my home town, with plans for it to anchor their east coast distribution. That went bust in just two years (another outfit uses that facility now. Here's an article about it. https://www.pilotonline.com/business/article_cd5f525e-30f8-11e8-a056-0b004ecb939f.html I guess the new owners are looking to get back on the east coast. You're going to see a lot of that with brands that were close to national. They are either going to close, get bought up, or team up. You either need to be in every supermarket like Sierra Nevada, or keep it semi local imo. That middle ground is a hard place to live.
