Why do MMA journalists and content creators act like it should just go without question that Jon is the GOAT of the sport? I wouldn't argue against him being the LHW GOAT (this of course is if you're willing to overlook the fact that pretty much all of Jon's impressive showings were when he was more than likely sauced up), but the overall GOAT of the sport? I think fighters like Mighty Mouse, Fedor, and GSP have a way stronger case then him.

Why is Jon ranked above Topuria in the P4P rankings and people just act like it's normal? How far back in time do you have to go to find anything Jon did that's even remotely as impressive as just this year for Topuria? 2015? Maybe? Make it make sense.

And if you believe rolling over on a one dimensional heavyweight that looked so lost on the ground that a white belt would probably give him some tips, and a controversial decision victory over Dominick Reyes is more impressive than definitive stoppage victories over Volk and Max, then we don't have much to talk about.

Won the title at 23 years old. He's now 37 and still has not lost in the UFC. We've been watching him reign as champ for 10+ years, he has 15 title wins.

the media is attached to him for this reason. Think about it, this guy has been in the UFC pre-100 and still hasn't lost a title fight.

I totally agree.

For all his cheating, the roads, the eye pokes etc etc, I barely think about him, especially in terms of greatness.

he wins alot, and people are bad people who like bad people.

I can't believe it's been 13 years since he beat Shogun.

That can't be right.

The p4p stuff is a joke. Really it needs to be based on recent activity, and not what you did 10 years ago. Jon is no more deserving of a spot than GSP as of today.

Weird fascination with one of the best fighters of all time? Nothing weird about that.

Shouldn't fans have fascinations about the best fighters? That would seem normal to me.

I thought so too.

his record shows a win though. It was a competitive fight and amongst those cheaters I've mentioned they've been finished too. machida, Islam, O'malley all finished. Jones never.
I've heard he's been finished off by lots of other men.

Never in a fight though.
