Whats up with the TV show my Big Fat Fabulous Life?

I remember this show coming out years ago, and I thought the premise of the show was that some huge fat women goes on a weight loss journey while empowering other obese people to do the same? I just came across this on TV today and she is just as big, if not bigger and it's just a reality show now... or maybe it always was. I don't get it, do Americans praise this sort of lifestyle? Instead of trying to address the problem at hand it seems like obese America is trying to promote this lifestyle.. what gives?
