The point of the belt is to reward the belt holder. A fighter has a higher pay scale as Champion than otherwise. The belt also provides validation/authorizes the belt holder. It is precisely because the belt validates that people who hold the belt for a long time can claim they are entitled to automatic rematches.

But yes, Izzy does not deserve a rematch. He has lost enough for me to question his bona fides as champion. I actual want to see if he can win a non-championship match against a top 5 opponent.
