What's the next "calf kick"?

Now that 12-6 is legal I’m kinda hoping for this

I actually think this might be the answer.

I've been seeing that move a lot since I started watching a little more Muay Thai, and you're right the rule change will enable it in the cage.

Now that is something new! I had forgotten how awesome that was.
It hits like a close range hammerstrike.
Most fighters would not see that damage coming at that range!
Until they start training for it. Takes some load up to do after all.

I still believe at some point someone will tickle their way out of a submission

Much has been made about how the calf kick became popularized and changed MMA in the last 7 years or so.

So my question is this:

If you were to predict the next new trendy technique or strategy that every fighter will add to their repertoire, what would it be?

Doesn't have to be brand new technique, either. I mean calf kicks weren't new, they were just rarely used until they caught fire and everyone started using them.

Could be something we've seen before but it's just not used often, like Mark Hunt's atomic butt drop.
Strategically compromising the integrity of the opponent's metacarpal bones in the hand by striking them, with full force of one's jumping/leaping body behind the strike, with the face.

AKA "The Flying Struve"

Jiri had some wild shit like that. I think it was more of a standing downward elbow but if he had landed that shit they woulda died.

It'll be interesting when the males catch up to the grappling in WMMA and start utilising the head and arm throw

Front kicks to the body. Good way to keep your opponent at range and diminish their cardio.

The thing with the calf kick is if you land even a single one of them, that leg will already be compromised. In other words he's hurt, he's hurt, that leg is already compromised.
