I made this observation a few months ago and crunching the numbers to find that taller fighter wins 75% of the time when there's a 2 inch difference in height.

And what's interesting to me is that fighters in the lower divisions seem to be getting taller. I remember hte days when 5ft9 manlets were the norm at WW, now guys 6ft+ are the standard

In today's environment what's the ideal height for each division?

You should do the same thing with reach.

Who was the 6'4 guy that got knocked the fuck out in 30 seconds at MW last night?

Its pretty depressing even at the amateur level..if you cant cut, you gotta fight tall skinny fighters...
5'6" Flyweights and 5'9" featherweights.

Better training and dieting which allow fighters to cut or manage weight better, thus bigger guys (natural size of height and frame) can fight at lower weight classes.

Yeah i remember that too...back in the day GSP was once considered a "huge" WW @ 5'10 as he dwarfed the shorter opponents in that era (Serra, Sherk, BJ, Hughes, etc.)

Taller with longer reach and bigger natural frame will give you that edge in size come fight night (given one manages the cut properly).

LOL GSP is 5'9 at best bruddeh, guy was the original height conscious manlet

I'd love to see legit studies done on the impact height and reach have on wins and losses. You should share your data!

Id also love to see a study on the heights of each fighters in each division prior to the new drug testing policy versus aferwards. Steroids often add bulk...so its no surprise that fighters in each division are getting leaner and taller.

weight management and weight cut has improved with better training and dieting. These days anyone less than 6ft better fight at 155 or below.

guys like Hendricks (5'9 at best) wont win the 170 belt again with today's "long" fighters.

I don't think Lawler is 6ft or even 5ft11

let me dig up the thread i made

Lawler is def not 6 ft. He is not even listed at 6ft for UFC (UFC listed height can be exaggerated). i would say he is pretty close to 5'11 (ufc listed height). He did look 2-3 inches taller than Hendricks and Hendricks is about 5'8.

I give him 5'10"

Ideally everyone in MW and above is going to be 6'1"+. Probably something like 6ft for WW, 5'10" for LW, 5'9" FW....etc.

I'd say Conor is just about the ideal size for 145(He is a little big but you get the idea)

HW: 6'2+
LHW: 6'0+
MW: 6'0+
WW: 5'10-6'1
LW: 5'9-6'0
FW: 5'8-5'11
BW: 5'6-5-9
FLW: 5'4-5'7

I made all those numbers up with 0 evidence

Why are you guys so obsessed with height? Are you guys into tall men?
