I always think about him as a guy who was one of the earlier pioneers of the lighterweights, but many don't talk much about him and his role as much as they do with guys like Penn and Faber.

Whats the general concensus on JP?

Top guy at the wrong time.

His knockout of John Lewis (I think- correct me I in wrong) was absolutely BRUTAL. Poor guy was convulsing on the ground and I believe had a broken jaw.

I actually felt horrible for Jens on this downside of his career, took some beatings years after he should have retired. A former UFC champ, undersized at that fighting at 155 when he wasn't a big FW and fought later at 135.

Sucks that he had to keep fighting and take way too much damage later in his career because he was broke. The Fertitas should have thrown him a bone- he is a solid commentator.

One of the 1st complete fighter in the LW. I wouldn't be upset if they put him in the HoF. 1st LW champ.

Sport passed him by and he likely should have hung up the gloves some years ago. That takes nothing away from the influence he had over the sport when he was on top. Happens to lots of guys.

fans don't like it when a fighter doesn't retire on top, they forget about the things they did

I think we can all agree that A. he's a true veteran of the sport and deserves a lot of respect; and B. he sure knew how to pull off some ridiculous haircuts.

Legend . Incredibly exciting too. Had a horrible downfall though.

Legend and pioneer, way ahead of his time. His problem was that he was at the top when the money in this sport was basically non existent. We talk about peanuts now, Jens got crumbs.

Legend, and probably the best fighter to meet in person. Guy is nice as hell and a class act.

Great fighter and apparently an even better World of Warcraft player.

This. I'll always be a fan of Jens for his personality. Great fighter as well. Probably just a little too early to catch the notoriety he should have gotten.

Favorite fighter alongside Gomi , a true pioneer of the sport and had one hell of a left hand.

He's a badass. A 135'er who fought most of his career at 155 and became champ anyways.

He's the OG Frankie Edgar.

His hands were leagues above most lightweights of the time. He took a lot of punishment against bigger fighters and his chin went but his skills are legit and he's the trailblazer for light strikers.

Yes, safe to say I am a big Lil' Evil fan boy. He's had great wars in the UFC, Pride and WEC. Hespect.

i have always seen jens pulver as... driven.
