Dana is saying he's injured, Ali is saying he isn't and is waiting for an opponent in March.
Why don't they just make Islam v Gaethje? I feel like they're doing what they did last year, save Islam for later in the yr. What gives?
Be careful. You might have to leave the bathtub brigade with posts like this!
No seriously, I have no idea what is happening with Islam, but my critiques of him and that camp have always been their activity levels, and the fact that they are EXTREMELY cautious about who and when they fight and always need to be in the position with advantages. They are likely waiting for the perfect opponent at the perfect time as they usually do. And before people come at me with, "buh buh, he accepts short notices fights!! how is that perfect for him?" yeah, he does, when he is the one who had a full 10 week training camp. That team is Extremely careful. I don't buy that the UFC is constantly sidelining him either. Why would they let Volk double his activity, yet sideline islam? It won't surprise me if Islams prepping, and then right after Charles and Arman beat the shit out of eachother, islam says he's ready 6-8 weeks later and forces a wounded lion to accept a quick turn around.
Long story short: who knows, but things like this happen with that camp far too often for me not to have my suspicions and criticisms.
If we want to give islam the benefit of the doubt, I believe he did mention a small injury on his shin from kicking volk's head a while ago.
