A rich middle eastern or russian dude from starting their own mma promotion and outbidding Dana White for talent. They've already been doing this with soccer teams (Manchester City, Chelsea, Newcastle United, PSG) as well as hosting mma/boxing events so it isn't too inconceivable for someone to start his own promotion.
Unlike the soccer audience, the mma crowd isn't too concerned with human rights so it will be a better way for them to cover up their shady reputation.

Because most of the talent is locked up in long term deals. You could get some guys here and there but it’s not like you could get a huge talent pool all in one fell swoop.

If the fighters would only sign one or two fight deals the transition of talent could be fast enough to make another organization strong in a short enough time to make it viable. We know Dana won’t allow short term contracts because of that possibility.

Owning a soccer club is a lot more prestigious and mainstream than owning an MMA promotion and gives you a lot more opportunities to show off your shiny new toy. Particularly getting started you're going to struggle to put on frequent cards until you can build up a quality roster.

Owning a soccer club also gives you a chance to compete with the other billionaires, your club against theirs. Owning an MMA promotion doesn't do that, but maybe some enterprising billionaire will start Saudi Top Team to compete with AKA, ATT and the other big gyms.

Definetely, I doubt that owning an mma promotion for the sheikhs will be an money making thing either. Probably akin to One fc where they may or may not be making money. There definetely will be less interest in it although I do think there will be some interest considering how Saudi Arabia and UAE were interested in hosting the events which does offer some prestige.

It is worth noting that a large boxing promotion MTK which has many of boxing's stars has been linked to irish mobster Kinahan who has also been associated with mcgregor.

Best thing to do is focus on a few big names and build up fighters. Once word gets out with other fighters of another option, when their contracts are up they may consider making the switch if everything is running smoothly and there seems to be forward progression with the promotion. It has to be competitive though pay wise with the big promotions, if not the focus will have to be building up their own talent first. Major marketing needs to be done on any new promotion to get noticed. Like what Triller did starting out, they made a big splash and combat sports fans and fighters from boxing/mma are all aware of the promotion and it's only been up and running for a very short time.

Nothing is stopping them. UFC fighters would look for free agency more. The politics aside it would divide talent, but would be exciting.

There has to be something hidden in the PFL contracts because I believe any of the top at least 25 fighters in the UFC could win the PFL championship in any weight class. Why dont UFC fighters jump to that org something has to be up with it? Theres probably like a hidden clause in the PFL contract like hey if you do win the million we will pay it to you with yearly installments for 20 yrs or some shit like that IDK

Those rich dudes bought already established brands (teams). Starting a new promotion and making it great takes too much time.
