With the UFC Welterweight Division being as much as a snakepit as it is, what should be next for Demian Maia? Fox Sports Senior Writer Damon Martin gives his suggestion, which is super interesting, and talks Matt Brown at around 1 Hour 18 minutes.

At best... the WW strap.

Most probable... another top tier WW bout.

At worst... the UFC manipulates the scheduling and matchup system to keep him away from Robbie.

hopefully a shot at the belt.

He should be fighting Woodley for a titleshot next, while Wonderboy should face Lawler and Rory rematch Condit. But no, Joe Silva fucked it all up. Its up to him to clean his fucking mess. But no fight makes sense right now for Maia.

Probably going to wait 6-8 months for his title shot, then he'll take a number one contender match up with Condit or someone when he realizes he's not getting any younger.

I agree. He's kinda stuck in the mud right now.

I nominate SimonNova to take Joe Silva's job. Spot on sir. As it stands now with Mr. Silva's fuckup Maia should probably face the winner of Hendricks/Gastelum late summer/early fall...

If Thompson gets the shot, he should fight Hendricks or Condit.

I think Condit is probably a easy fight for him if it's 3 rounds, but 5 rounds we have a fight.

Keep giving him tough fights until he loses one. Then never give him another shot. And with age and fighting tough guys, Maia's gonna drop one. Damned shame because Maia should be getting a crack at Lawler. Whether that means waiting or not. No question about it, 100%.

Maia IMHO is a super classy guy and a great ambassador for MMA. Would make a great champ while he lasted. Would probably sophisticate a lot of fans too.

Maia should do what Woodley did, and sit on the sidelines begging for a title shot, without actually earning it. Difference being, Maia actually has earned it.

Maia deserves a title shot IMO

Hendricks after he beats Kelvin probably

ah, the REAL matchmaker here on sherdog is SUBLIME FAN. Be sure to take a look when you see him start threads such as ''Whats next for the winners of this card'' and ''Put a fight card together from scratch''. He puts Silva and Shelby to shame every single time.

Thanks anyway ;)

And btw, I'd hate to see Maia face Hendricks, as Hendricks is annoying an actually a BAD match up for Maia!

^I think the Hendricks fight is the most likely because its a bad match up for Maia and I dont think the UFC wants him as champ.

Carlos Condit. Maia is my favorite fighter and he deserves a TS but I don't see him getting it yet. He needs to beat a top 5 opponent and Condit is by far the guy meeting that criteria who he matches up with best.

I assumed he would've gone the way of Fitch and Paul harris by now but.....
With Askren in a different organization per danas preference I still don't know how Maia didn't get booted before this.
Now the guy is in the running for a shot?
Askren needs to come to ufc just to fight this guy.

Hopefully a deserved title-shot. Joe Silva made the WW division a fucking mess though. As far as I known he only has one job and he is bad at it. Come man...
